The Ohio & Erie Canal in Cuyahoga County

The Ohio & Erie Canal began in Cleveland where the Cuyahoga River empties into Lake Erie. It featured 9 locks at various times (Locks 37-44 - there were two different Locks 42), four of which still remain. It also had two aqueducts which are still in use. The canal is watered from the southern border of Cuyahoga County to Cuyahoga Heights. Lock 38 is a refurbished and full functional lock.
