Hello, Benson Here. My Pet, Or as some call him, my Owner, made me this page...

Benson, (My Big Old Bear)has a special story I'm proud to share with you!

Benson, You will always be Sadly missed...

We live in an area where the houses are a little close together. When we first moved in I thought there may be a problem with Benson barking too much. I soon learned this would not be any problem. We found after a while we were able to tell what was going on in the neighborhood just by Benson's different type of barks. One day he was out barking a little different. So we checked to see what was going on and found nothing unusual. It wasn't too much longer when we heard a firetruck. We found after talking with our neighbor that their furnace had shorted out and was filling the house with smoke. This was an elderly couple and the husband was not home at the time. While the wife was sleeping, Benson just kept barking. He finally woke her with his barks and as she came to see what was wrong with him, it was then she noticed her house was filling with smoke. She was able to call the fire department and they came and took care of the problem. Everything turned out Ok and she is fine, the house only suffered minor smoke damage. When my wife talked to her, she said if Benson had not continued to bark she may have never woke up and got out safely.

Hi, my name is Brandi !

Brandi has her own special way of knowing if I'm having trouble with my back. I've had a lot of trouble since a back injury several years ago. Since then she has a way of knowing when it's bothering me the most. She lays right beside me against my back and keeps the warmth of her body right on the area that bothers me the most. I find it very interesting that she knows, and it does help relieve some of the pain! My wife works and does a lot of walking and lifting. After a hard day at work, she may sit on the couch with her feet up for a while and Brandi will get right up there and lay across her legs, always being sure to lay in just the right spot. This does not just happen every now and then, she does it when ever she feels it's needed. She also knows if one of us is not feeling well and will stay very close to that person until she sees they are feeling better. It's amazing how much a dog really understands!

I Love You Baby Girl... June 12, 2007

HEAVEN'S DOGGY DOOR,

My best friend closed her eyes last night,
As her head was in my hand.
The Doctors said she was in pain,
And it was hard for her to stand.
The thoughts that scurried through my head,
As I cradled her in my arms.
Were of her younger, puppy years,
And Oh!...her many charms.
Today, there was no gentle nudge
With an intense "I love you gaze",
Only a heart that's filled with tears
Remembering our joy-filled days.
But an Angel just appeared to me,
And he said, "You should cry no more.
GOD also loves our canine friends;
HE's installed a "doggy-door"!

Some other Pet stories...

Shocky's PawPrint:
Shocky was a 17 Year old Male Sheltie.
His home territory: Canton, Ohio U.S.A.
Who owned who? Shocky owned & Protected Us!
How we got together? Followed me home in my pocket!
The Year he did this good deed: Fall 1986

From the heart:

Shocky, always in our hearts and Sadly missed!

We had a dog that Kevin gotfrom a junk yard when he was a puppy, he crawled into Kevin's coat pocket. He was a Sheltie, abeautiful dog. I remember once, two nefarious characters came to our back door asking aboutsomething they wanted from our back yard. Shocky always being protective, growled, then hegrabbed my arm with his teeth (he didn't bite, just gripped me tight enough with his teeth to keep agood hold on me) and pulled me back into the house. I laugh about it NOW, because I keep remembering how surprised the two men were. I'm convinced he sensed something that I couldn'tand saved me from harm. My husband was not home at the time, this was another reason healways loved that dog! Kevin & I are very happy that Shocky is on this dedication page.
It's nice to know that someone else will know what a great dog he was!

Taffy, You will always be Sadly missed!

I remember when my sister and I were little we had a Chihuahua. Her name was Taffy, she was the greatest littledog and we used to do all kinds of stuff together. One day while something was cooking in the kitchen, we were playing just like any other day. Everything was fine, then we noticed Taffy started barking. We could not figure out what was wrong, then we went into the kitchenand found that a fire had started in there. Now if she had not barked like she did, we may not have found out in time.We always loved having her as part of our family for so many years.Taffy, this dedication is for all those great years together!

Sara's PawPrint:
Sara was a 2 Year old Female Cocker Spaniel.
Her home territory: Mountain View, California United States.
Who owned who? Sara was Dannys dog and loved it!
How we got together? She was a gift.
The Year she did this good deed: 1996

From the heart:

Sara we hope there is an everlasting supply of Tennis Balls
where you are and know that we will always carry you in our
hearts!!! With Everlasting Love, Dan, Josh, John, Jill and Paul.

[This was paraphrased by me, Dans Dad, for him.]

Sara was struck and killed almost instantly in the street in front of ourhouse yesterday. Dan is 10 years old and is devastated by the loss of Sara!He told me to write this story.

One day in August last year (1996) when Dan was sick with the flu andstaying home alone for a few hours because my wife and I had a two hour gapbetween when she had to be at work and when I could get off. Dan heard Sarabarking and scratching at the back sliding glass door. This was unusualbehavior for her. She LOVED her tennis balls and could chase them for HOURSon end, but this was too much excitement for just a ball.

Dan let her out and then looked outside. He saw a young man wearing aleather jacket go across the back yard (we have a locked backyard gate) andtry to break into our backyard "cottage." Sara ran after the man and startedbarking and howling and baring her teeth at the intruder. The guy probablyfigured it wasn't worth getting bitten and ran as fast as he could over theside gate to get away from her. Dan went to the door and let her and our 15year old Australian Sheppard mix, Guido, who was sleeping through the wholeevent, in with him. Dan quickly locked all of the doors and windows andimmediately called both of us at our work to tell us what happened. He wasshaken, but Sara stuck to him like glue until we were able to get home.Sara had saved the day and taught us a valuable lesson.

Sara is also Guido's "seeing eye dog." Guido can't see or hear very well.15 years is OLD for a dog. He CAN tell where Sara is, so he follows heraround, and she leads him to food. I don't know what's going to happen nowthat she's gone.

On an everyday basis, my wife let Sara out in the morning (she slept nextto Dan) before the kids got up and when it was time to wake them, she wouldlet Sara in and said, "Go get Josh" and Sara would run into my 13 year old'sbedroom and slobbers all over his face and keep nudging him till he got up.Then she say would say, "Go get Dan," and Sara would run into Dan's room andeither slobber on him till he got up or if she sensed it was a weekend, shewould creep back on his bedcovers, right over his toes and snuggle down backto sleep.

Her pride and joy besides the three kids, are her tennis balls.(John is 7 and LOVES to take Sara for walks. He sleeps on the top bunk of abunk bed, and Sara had never figured out how to get up to him to wake him upin the morning.) You can throw, bat or kick the balls ALL DAY long and sheNEVER got tired of running after them and bringing them back to your feet inthe expectancy of you throwing them again. If she is on one side of a glassdoor from a ball, she will lie for HOURS staring at the ball on the otherside in the hopes that sombody will open the door and she can be near herfavorite toy.

Hi! I'm Danny. Thanks for letting me use your web page to talk aboutSara. She really meant a lot to me and this helped me to let everyone inthe world know what a great dog she was.

This page is the best page in the world!!!!!!

Shadow has an unusual toy. Usually dogs as far as I know run from thesweeper. But our dog loves the sweeper. When I am doing housecleaning, Shadow will sit in front of the sweeper until I sweepher. I use the hose attachment to sweep the steps and she willjust sit on the steps waiting for me to sweep her. She loves it!When I stop she will hit my hand with her paw and want more. Iusually have to put her outside if I want to get any houseworkdone. She is a great dog, and she's wonderful with our three boys. The kids will use her as a pillow when they are watching T.V.in their bedrooms. It's funny to see them all just laying thereas they all watch T.V. together! Shadow is always with the kids.I think she always helps keep an eye on them to keep them fromany harm! What more could you ask for!!

  In Loving Memory of Hugs

May 17, 1992 - April 13, 1997
Our Dear Friend "Hugs" passed away Sunday, April 13 1997.

Hi Folks. My name is "Hugs". They say I think I'm human. Maybe they're right. Man,
have I got the good life. All I have to do is eat, sleep and bark. I've got my own beach
chair to sit in on the front porch. Brandi is the nice little girl who plays with me. About
the only real problem I have in life is the UPS delivery truck. One of their drivers ran
over my foot about a year ago and I really hate them. Every time I see one of their
trucks I try to bite the tires. The man master, I think they call him "Jimmy", really gets
mad at me when I bark. They are always telling me not to bark. It's like I'm not allowed
to talk. This really makes me mad but I don't complain because I know which side my
bread is buttered on!

When we got Hugs she was so special. It seemed she knew everythingwe said to her. She would always know how to make us laugh when wewere down. After a long work day she would be waiting in the drivefor me to get home and she would dance with excitement knowing wewere home. Hugs was so smart. She knew many tricks and the last oneshe learned was to ride the skateboard. Now that was something tosee. All of us in the family will miss the extra attention she gaveto us and I know she loved us as much as we loved her. I know in myheart that one day I will see her again.
Thanks a million for this page.

The Year she did this good deed: Always

From the heart:

In Loving Memory of my friend Waffle, there will always
be a special place in my heart for you Waffie!!!

Waffle has always been there for me. In the years that Waffle lived with us, there were times that she gave me a reason to get up in the morningsto keep going. Many times I have been ill and just knowing that I had toget thru my day if only to care for Waffle and my many parrots has givenme the energy to feel better. When she was a young dog, Waffle would loveto chase bubbles we would blow for her in the yard. She was so intent on catching them that she often dove over a rock wall in her pursuit of theshimmering bubbles. Another favorite of hers was balloons. She knew enoughto hold them from the stem end and would bark like a lunatic when she sawanyone blowing up a balloon as she was sure it was for her. After she tiredof walking around the room holding the balloon trophy in her mouth, shewould bump it up in the air with her nose and want you to hit it back to her.She really loved those balloons! Another favorite was taking a ride in thecar, before she was a year old we were already spelling r-i-d-e in the c-a-rand she would get so excited at hearing the words. If I had to leave her inthe car for a few minutes, she would always move over to my seat and peoplewould laugh because she looked like she was about to drive the car. She wasa true friend and those are hard to come by. Waffle will be missed by All who knew her.

Joe's PawPrint:
Joe is a 4 Year old Male German Shorthair Pointer.
His home territory: Grandville, New York U. S. A.
Who owned who? I own Joe!
How we got together? He was a gift.
The Year he did this good deed: Always

From the heart:

He is my constant and true friend!

I own a slate mine in Vermont. when it comes time to blast rock free from the earth my dog is always there. He sticks his nose down the drill holes and blows air in them and he will whimper if there is water in the holes. How he knows this is a mystery to me, but it helps me because black powder will not ignite if it is wet. This saves me tons of time and money. I don't know what I'd do without him. He goes everywhere with me and the whole town knows he is a Quarry dog!!!

Witty's PawPrint:
Witty is a 11 Year old Male West Highland Terrier.

The Year he did this good deed: Always

From the heart:

Witty I miss you very much and hope you are happy & well in doggie heaven.
Love Connie, Pie-ee and your pals Benji, Tahoe and Louise!

March 30th 1998
The reason I'm writing this is in memorial of Witty. He is 11 years old and just went on to doggie heaven today. I feel really sad and just wanted to share my thoughts and feelings. I call him the King of the World because at first he was the only dog in our lives but he loved all the other dogs that came into our family. Benji came into our home and Witty accepted him with open paws. Then came our first Golden Retriever puppy, now 4 years old and Witty was like a father to him. Quite a sight to see them running together and then Witty running underneath him when Tahoe became full grown. Another puppy is now in the house and Witty was like a proud father again. Witty was born in California and moved to Singapore with us. When he was a little puppy he was fiesty and used to crawl under the fence to the neighbor's house. He was fearless among big dogs and friendly to puppies. He loves chasing tennis balls and birds. He used to make a strange little noise to get our attention and then held onto our hands by his mouth and lead us to the kitchen if he wants a little snack. All the millions of memories that pages cannot fill up. I love my Witty and will miss him dearly. He died of old age and lived a happy life.

Mag-thanks for the Memories.Your Pal -Dennis

Maggy- 1987 ?- 1998
Maggy was a pure bred female German Shepherd. About 125 lbs of pure love. She had to her credit, training as a search and Rescue dog for the New Jersey State Police and was a wonderfully trained and very affectionate animal I'm told with certificates for finding lost children in the forest.

She was the best dog I've owned and I've had a long line of great ones. Maggy seemed to watch out for everyone- she would breakup fights between children in front of our house. She always sensed when people had problems and was there with a lick or knowing glance. She would never dream of lying down for the night without first coming to my bed and licking my hand.

She had a good life with me - Cross Country skiing, country hikes, Dog treats from all the neighbors whose hearts she had won, almost daily trips with me to the large water falls behind the house, and long pensive sits in the back woods just watching nature, and lots of hugs.

She won the hearts of all who met her. A beautiful dog- proud and stately. Made you proud to walk beside her.

A friend sent me the following - it seems to say so much about "Mag"
"Some Dogs come into our lives and quietly go.... others stay awhile. Leaving Paw prints on our hearts and we are never the same. "

When she became so lame that moving was near impossible I had to tearfully take her to the vets to be put down.

I promised her she could go to Florida with me as I was moving there shortly after having to put her down. -in a way I kept that promise, she is here.......... as I have taken her ashes and spread them in the woods and near the waterfall in Upstate N.Y. (our old home) where we so often spent time together - saving enough of her ashes to sprinkle on the Florida beach I now live near and often walk. Seldom does a day go by that I don't imagine her by my side strolling my favorite beach. So if you are ever in Cocoa Beach and see some old fool strolling along, down near the 26th Street crossover, and seemingly talking to a friend who does not seem to be there........ do not fear.... he is harmless. It's probably just me "taking Maggy for a walk".

Maggy - you will never be forgotten, as you will live on in my mind and walk the beach with me hopefully for years to come, and by the way .......thanks for leaving your paw prints on my heart. It has truly been a pleasure.......you have been my best friend... ever.... and shall not be forgotten.

Dennis Casanova- in memory of "Maggy" Feb. 27, 1998

Dogie's PawPrint:
Dogie was a 3 1/2 year old male Black Labrador.
His home territory: Jefferson City, Missouri.
Who owned who? Dogie owned us.
How we got together? He was a gift.
The Year He did this good deed: Always

From the heart:

Dogie there will always be a piece of you that we will take with us forever.
Lots of love, Sarah, Robert, Woodie and Teresa.

When we first got Dogie we had our backyard fenced in. One, it kept out our next door neighbor who liked to kick the soccerball up against the wall of our house and two, it kept Dogie from getting out. While we were selling our house the realestate agent was showing the house to some people and heard the sound of running water. Well my mom came home and heard it too but just thought that it was the pipes. Well 2 o'clock came around and we were getting off the bus when my mom came out to meet us. She took us inside and informed us that we were the lucky ones who got to take Dogie for a walk. We went out back and low and behold we found the reason for the running water sound. Dogie had hit the hose faucet enough to make it turn on full blast and have it make a 3 foot deep swimming pool which he felt it was his job to roll around in. Well we turned off the faucet which had been running since 9 in the morning and told my mom. It took 3 weeks for the water to dry up and there was still the hole where dogie had made is pool. That was one muddy dog!

Dogie, you were always very protective over us and we miss you. We hope you are happy and are running through the fields of everlasting life and we hope to see you again someday.

Major's PawPrint:
Major was a 10 Year old Male Golden Retriever.
His home territory: Springfield & Cape Cod, Ma. U.S.A.
Who owned who? Major owned Everyone!
How we got together? We got Major from the pound.
The Year he did this good deed: Always.

From the heart:

MAJ, THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES! LOVE FROM US ALL!!!

1988 - July 6, 1998
We do not have one outstanding story about Major.
To us every day we had him he was OUTSTANDING!

We found Major at the local pound when he was just a pup. It was love at first sight. Shortly after we bought a second home on Cape Cod. This Was Majors FAVORITE place to go. Every weekend, Spring, Summer, Fall and Winter we were on our way. Major LOVED the ocean and the beach and as far as going in the ocean you just couldn't stop him. Even in the middle of winter, it was right in the water for him and you too if he could drag you in! He LOVED the rides down, hanging his head out the window for all the other travelers to see. They would always look at him pointing and smiling. We always had friends and family staying with us at the Cape.
Major was special to each and every one!

Every morning he would be sure to wake someone up at the crack of dawn to go for his walk (OR TAKE YOU FOR A DRAG) by jumping around, talking and if necessary stealing your socks. Then it was off to the beach and on the way back he would make sure you stopped at the corner store to get him a "SLIM JIM" even the store clerks knew his routine. Major spent his last weekend at the Cape. We returned home this Sunday, normal as all others, head out the window making adults and children smile as we drove along. Monday night without warning he left us and with him took our Hearts! WE WILL MISS HIM ALWAYS!!!

Button's PawPrint:
Button was a 9 1/2 Year old Female Cockapoo.
Her home territory: Liverpool, New York U.S.A.
Who owned who? Button Owned Me!
How we got together? Button was a gift.
The Year she did this good deed: Always!

From the heart:

You are missed every day, my devoted friend, Janice Nixon

Button was supposed to be a birthday present for my daughter, Heather, but it quickly became apparent that she was my dog. She went everywhere with me that she could possibly go. When I had major surgery and was in the hospital for 5 days, I missed her terribly! My family kept telling Button that "mommy" was sick and she could not jump up on me when I came home. When I finally did come home, the plan was for me to wait in the car while Button was put in the yard. Then I would be settled on the sofa and Button brought in on her leash. All went according to plan until I heard her come in the back door and whistled for her. She bounded up the stairs and headed straight for the sofa and me, but instead of jumping directly into my lap, which was her normal custom, she went to the far end of the sofa, jumped up and ran to my side and laid down, all the while her beautiful plume of a tail spinning in circles as she kissed my hand. She never left my side the entire time I was recuperating nor did she ever jump on me. She really seemed to know that she couldn't.

Sadly, Button developed a tumor in 1993 and I had to make the painful decision to let her go. I held her in my arms as she slipped away, taking a piece of my heart with her. She brought many happy days into my life!

Lady Bess's PawPrint:
Lady Bess was a 12 Year old English Setter.
Her home territory: Hershey, Pa. U.S.A.
Who owned who? Lady Bess Owned Us All!
How we got together? Lady Bess was a gift.
The Year she did this good deed: Always!

From the heart:

May the Love that we shared with Lady Bess and
Brie be remembered to all through this tribute!

Lady Bess was our 12 year old English Setter who passed away December 23, 1998.

I remember when she was about 7 years old our neighbor had company and Lady Bess was so friendly with everyone that she always used to greet everyone by her friendly bark. She was barking on this day at some of our neighbor's company and she just kept barking and barking. We went out to see what the problem was. There was a little girl no more than 5 years old that was lying on a blandket and Bessie wanted to see her. Not knowing that there was anything wrong, we went for a visit. This little girl was sitting on the blanket outside and Bessie went right over to her and laid down beside her almost to comfort her. This little girl was my neighbor's niece who had Spina Bifida and Bess put her head down on the little girl's shorten legs and the little girl just laughted and stroked her head. Bess was there with her and never made any attempt to get up. I finally brought her home. I will never forget that day.

Lady Bess was a very dignified English Setter and everyone loved her kind and gentle ways. We will always cherish her and knowing now that she is at peace and comforting another if needed at the Bridge. She will be apart of us forever and we will always cherish those memories of her and all that she gave to us unconditionally. She is with her loving companion, Brie who gave up her life to be with her three weeks after Bessie passed on. True companionship can never be replaced and miracles were gone for them both. May they both know that we understand and though tears we hold them to our hearts forever... Together, Carole and Ken Miller...

Brie who is in the foreground passed away 3 weeks after Lady Bess. We thought it would be nice to include as their photo an oil painting of them both at play in a nice happy time. Ken did this painting and it makes this dedication an even more special one. He has done several others on dogs and shows how much he cares by the way he portrays them.
So Lady Bess and Brie, This Dedication is for the both of you!!!
