| The
great Lake Curve, overlooking Lake Vercingetorix, off in the
distance. The Medical Station was created from an extra cardboard
Scalextric box, covered with self-adhesive paper onto which doors,
windows and other features were printed. It opens, and the cellophane
window was retained so figures can be placed inside. More of the kraft-paper
scenery can be seen...it takes a lot of "crunching" and
fiddling to get a good effect. The yellow crash barrels at the bottom
are from a Hot Wheel car set and are in perfect scale. |

| Another
look at the Lake Curve, looking back toward the esses and the village.
Space considerations made it necessary to eliminate borders on this
curve, but the advantage with the outside lane here is offset on other
portions of the track. |

| A
better view of the control tower and concession stand (bier haus). The
stand was made form an extra clear plastic car display box; black
foam-core was glued on the outside to make the structure larger and add
seating on the roof. The tower is made from a foam-core base, topped by
a clear plastic candy box--the lid lifts off so figures can be put
inside. Eventually these will feature lights on the interior. Behind
these structures is the banked Trinity Curve, featuring three 30-degree
inside curve sections. Prayer may indeed be the order of the day for
drivers of some long-wheelbase cars. The whoosh--whoosh--whoosh
sound that cars make coming around this curve is a unique track
characteristic. |
