Blue Mountain: Egg's spirit form floats above Voll's body. He's lost the ability to feel. Voll's headpiece takes the shape of a wolf and howls. Is it Winnowill mocking him? He sees an intruder, Timmain. She's changing idols into wolves. She uses magic against him. The spheres are imperiled. He enters the Hall of Icons within the Great Egg. The ancient harmonies must be preserved. He goes to the center where the heart appears intact. Inside there is only snow. He sees Timmain as a wolf. She wants to play some game with a stick. Egg takes it and becomes a wolf. He lives as her mate. Elf blood is in their cubs. It's too much. He awakes unconscious in a maze. He's looking for Timmain. He can't find her. Timmorn comes to him and gives him strength. At the heart of the Egg he finds Timmain. She tells him to remember and disappears. He'll remember until all times are finished. Her memories join with the Egg. Everything he's experienced and learned must be guarded from Winnowill. Now he has truly lived.
