In order to survive, Timmain took a wolf's form and hunted for the others. In time, the
High Ones made a life for themselves. Timmorn, first chief of the Wolfriders, is born to
Timmain and a wolf. Here, the 10,000 years of the Ten Chiefs begins.
# 1
Timmorn, the first chief, begins dreaming of being a full wolf and is called away by
something. Timmain says his magic made him more wolf-like. He decides who he is and
everything becomes clear.
# 3, 4, 6
These take place during the reign of the fourth chief Two-Spear (at first known as
Swift-Spear). Swift-Spear goes to war against the humans of the nearby village. The humans
are forced to leave and he earns the name Two Spear. # 6 features his sister, Huntress
Skyfire, but she is not yet chief.
# 1 - 5
Two-Spear begins to have strange dreams of the humans returning and believes they are no
longer safe. His lifemate Willowgreen recognizes Graywolf. Two-Spear's dreams bring him to
a chamber, possibly formed by high ones. He believes high ones told him to go to war. He
goes back to the wolfriders, and his chieftainship is challenged by his sister Huntress
Skyfire. The tribe splits and Two-Spear leaves with half the tribe to become the Go-Backs.
- Kahvi # 2 - 3 (flashback)
#2: Kahvi returns from her hunt with nothing. Her father Two-Spear says she's weak. His
lovemate says there are other ways to lead. Icetooth finds her and says she should be pack
leader and chief. In a cavern made by the High Ones she challenges Two-Spear. #3: Kahvi
and her father battle. Two-Spear means to kill her but she wounds him twice before he
knocks her down. She gets up for more but is stabbed through her chest and falls into a
pool. Two-Spear says he never had a daughter and they leave.
# 5, 7, 17, 18
These are set in Freefoot's time. The last two issues feature his son, Oakroot. Freefoot
dies. Oakroot becomes chief, and later takes the name Tanner.
# 8 - 9, 12 - 14
These take place during the reign of the eighth chief, Goodtree. However, Mantricker is
the main character of the last three of these. Goodtree founds the Holt where the
Wolfriders live until EQ # 1.
- Hidden Years # 20 (flashback)
Hummer and Buckthorn, two very competetive Wolfriders, try to outdo each other at
everything. When they have a staring match, they recognize after two days.
# 2, 15, 16
These take place after Bearclaw is born. Bearclaw discovers the trolls. Mantricker dies,
and Bearclaw becomes the Wolfriders' tenth chief. # 16 is set early in Bearclaw's time.
# 20 "Petalwing's Song"
In the Forbidden Grove, Petalwing and the Preservers protect their wrapstuff bundles from
a troll.
- Birdcall (later Treestump), Clearbrook, Moonshade, Strongbow, One-Eye, Redmark (later
Redlance), Pike, Rainsong and Woodlock are born.
'93 Summer Special "Naming Day"
Birdcall receives his new name, Treestump.
- Kahvi # 3 (flashback)
After Two-Spear's death, Icetooth leads the split-off Wolfrider tribe to a cave. Kahvi is
alive in a pool, preserved by it's magic. They have no wolf-blood due to Willowgreen's
trickery. But Kahvi does. She becomes chief of what will be the Go-Backs. While hunting a
large stag Icetooth is stabbed with an antler. Kahvi kills it. He says to wear the four
braids of chief as he dies.
# 9
Rayek is born to Jarrah and Ingen. Leetah is born to Suntoucher (Anatim) and Toorah twelve
years later.
- Wolfrider! Prologue
Wolfrider! Part 1: Strongbow runs from an angry bear. He's chased up a tree. Bearclaw
leaves it cub hanging from a branch and they return to the Holt. Strongbow wanted to hunt
the bear like Bearclaw, to prove himself. Bearclaw knocks him down. "Only I hunt the
bear!" Rain heals Strongbow. Joyleaf says Bearclaw constantly tests himself, never
satisfied.
- The Go-Backs settle at the Frozen Mountains.
- Crescent is born to Strongbow and Moonshade.
Parts 1 - 11
The humans settle near the Holt, fleeing draught and famine. A young human chief grows up
and the fued between Wolfriders and humans begins.
# 5
Shale is killed by humans and Eyes High, with cub, is captured. Two boys, feeling
dishonorable, take her on a raft, where Skywise is born. She sends him down the river for
the tribe to find as she dies.
- New Blood # 6 "Auspicious Beginnings"
Runner finds young Skywise watching the sky. The future chief is about to be born. As
Skywise watches Cutter being born, a snake approaches. It's about to strike and Skywise
whips it away. Only Clearbrook saw. Bearclaw thanks him. Runner is proud. Skywise must
always watch over the cub, advise him and be his friend.
- Nightfall is also born to Brownberry and Longbranch at about the same time.
# 1, 7, 10
These are three stories Cutter and Skywise told to Ember and Suntop. It is doubtful that
these actually ever took place.
- Scouter and Dewshine born, Scouter to One-Eye and Clearbrook, and Dewshine to Treestump
and Rillfisher.

Cutter and Skywise go on a digger hunt.
- Hidden Years # 5 "Starfall, Starrise"
After getting rid of Cutter, Skywise goes with Foxfur into the dreamberry patch. They see
a human making a circle of rocks, wearing the ornament Eyes High wore in her hair. Skywise
attacks him, demanding to know where he got it. He and his brother couldn't keep Skywise's
mother alive. For making a mockery of the ceremony by running off with Eyes High, his
brother Taf was killed. This is his grave. The ornament isn't a trophy, but a symbol of
his shame. Skywise cuts it off of him and rides away.

The High Ones' "recorder" falls near the Holt.

Rillfisher is killed.
- Graphic Novel # 5 "Courage By Any Other Name"
Redmark changes his name to Redlance.
- New Blood # 6 "Power of Two"
Skywise watches Cutter hunting. He stores up legs of meat and delivers it to a troll. He's
giving it to Redrash in exchange for a metal slingstone. Skywise says he's giving too much
meat. He has an idea. The next day he accuses Redrash of cheating Cutter. Cutter takes the
slingstone and gives Redrash centipedes. He never said what kind of legs. Cutter finds the
slingstone is unfinished and useless. Skywise makes a headpiece out of it.
'93 Summer Special "Eclipse of the Heart"
Joyleaf tells Cutter, Skywise, Nightfall, Scouter, and Dewshine the story of the moons and
sun.
- Dart is born to Strongbow and Moonshade.
- Elfquest # 6 - 7 (flashback)
Madcoil decimates the Wolfrider tribe. Deaths include Rain, Brownberry, Longbranch
(One-Eye's older brother, until NB # 6 recently known as Longreach), Foxfur (Skywise's
lovemate), Joyleaf and Bearclaw. Cutter becomes chief.
- New Blood # 6 "Choice of Direction"
Hunting is very slim. They need furs for the white-cold. Everybody has ideas but won't let
Cutter speak. He walks off with Skywise. He was born to be leader but they won't let him
lead. Skywise says his instincts have been off since Madcoil. Don't think so much. Cutter
sends for a meeting. They won't follow the river or the sun, they'll stay here in a place
they know. He earns their trust.
- Newstar is born to Woodlock and Rainsong shortly afterwards.
'93 Summer Special "Fur Flower's Gift"
The Wolfriders help a human boy who can't hunt.
- Wing is born to Woodlock and Rainsong.
# 1 - 8
Humans burn the forest and the Holt. The Wolfriders escape across the desert. Cutter and
Leetah recognize. Cutter and Rayek's original challenge.
# 1, 4
Ahnshen, a Sun Villager, becomes obsessed with making Moonshade be how he wants her to be,
not like a Wolfrider.
- Elfquest # 9 (flashback)
Suntop and Ember are born.
- Rayek enters the troll caves and meets Ekuar, an imprisoned rock-shaper. At the same
time, Guttlekraw and his trolls attack. Rayek and Ekuar are led through the Frozen
Mountains by Two-Edges voice, and are found by Go-Backs. Guttlekraw kills Greymung,
and enslaves most of his subjects. Only Picknose, Oddbit and Old Maggoty escape.

The original Quest takes place during one summer / fall.

Dewshine gives birth to Windkin. She convinces Scouter that he's the father in all the
ways that count.
- Yun is born to an unnamed Go-Back and Skywise.

Egg has a vision of Timmain.
- Trinket is born to Oddbit and Picknose.
- Siege at Blue Mountain # 1 - 8
Venka is born to Kahvi and Rayek. Dart visits the Wolfriders with his twelve
"Jack-Wolfriders," of which three have been named: Zhantee, Dodia and Shu-shen
(later Shushen). Aroree abandons Blue Mountain. Blue Mountain falls and Strongbow kills
Kureel. The human tribe Hoan-G'Tay-Sho leave, taking the catatonic Door with them as an
object of worship.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 1 - 6
Kahvi is seperated from her tribe. Picknose is thrown out, together with Oddbit, Old
Maggoty and Trinket. Rayek and the Wolfriders take the Palace to the Sun Village. Ekuar
makes a miniature Palace and gives it to Savah. Rayek and most of the Wolfriders go to a
new continent, bringing Zhantee and Shenshen, and leaving Dart, Scouter, Dewshine and
Windkin in the Sun Village. The palace vanishes with Rayek, Leetah, Skywise, Suntop,
Ember, Ekuar and Trinket in it. The Palace will reappear some 10,000 years later in what
would be the cultural equivalent of the 1300s A.D. on Earth. No calendar system of dates
has yet been devised for Abode, however.
'93 Summer Special "Rock-Shaper"
In the Sun Village, a few days after the Palace has left, Ahdri learns she is a
rock-shaper.
- Kings of the Broken Wheel # 7 (p 1 - 17)
After a while, the Wolfriders left behind decide to go on with life and survive. A new
holt is created and Cutter begins marking the time.
- Kings of the Broken Wheel # 7 (p 1 - 17)
Tyldak, Aroree, Kahvi, and Venka cross the ocean. Winnowill calls to them from beneath
the waves. Venka's powerful sending allows them to escape and they soon arrive at the
new Holt.

Tyleet is born to Redlance and Nightfall.
- Kimo is born to Newstar and an unnamed Sun Villager sometime later.

Kahvi and Tyldak return to the Go-Backs. They take Yun and Chot after the little palace in
the Sun Village. They are beaten. Yun stays and Kahvi and Tyldak are put under wrapstuff.
- Kings of the Broken Wheel # 7 (p 17 - 19)
Krim gives birth to a son, Cheipar, who dies shortly after. The father is either Skot or
Pike.
# 1
Strongbow goes after his wolf-friend Lashpaw and is infected with the foaming sickness.
Both almost die.
# 3
Tyleet adopts an abandoned human cub and raises him. He returns to the humans and
eventually becomes their chief.
- Picknose shows some success building a clan consisting entirely of his own descendants.
- Kings of the Broken Wheel # 7 (p 20 - 30)
From the Wolfriders' point of view, some 500 years of survival are briefly covered in.
About 500 years after the Palace disappears, the Wolfriders go into wrapstuff to await its
reappearance.
# 11 - 13 (p 1 - 8)
Zey, Chot, and other Go-Backs go after the miniature Palace again. Kahvi and Tyldak are
awakened. The Go-Backs attack in the wake of an erupting volcano and Shushen is killed.
The Go-Backs are beaten, the wounded put in wrapstuff. Chot stays with the Sun Folk and
Kahvi and Tyldak return to the Go-Backs. The Sun Folk take cover in the caves. After
emerging from the underground caves, Dart, Mender, Newstar, Scouter and Dewshine go into
wrapstuff in the Sun Village.
# 1 - 6
Kahvi leaves the Go-Backs to find the egg from Blue Mountain with Tyldak. They find Egg
revived. Kahvi discovers she is actually a Wolfrider. She takes the egg back to the
Go-Backs.
- Woodlock and Rainsong die.
- New Blood # 13 (p 9 - 14) "Forevergreen" Part 1
Wing counts time in his parents' place. Dart is released from wrapstuff by Serrin,
daughter of Wing and Behtia. They Recognize. Two years later, a son Bowki is born to them
and Talmah. Mender and Newstar are also awake during this period. After raising his son,
Bowki, to adolescence, Dart returns to wrapstuff.
- A few centuries later, Wing dies.
- New Blood # 1 "The Price of a Soul"
Two-Edge pulls his mother Winnowill out of the sea with a crane-device. He called her here
through sending. He drops her in a deep well. In the morning he checks on her. She wanted
to use him as a blank slate for her magic. She could be the greatest healer, but perverts
her power. She could heal him but chooses not to. He dumps dead fish on her. As he sleeps,
Winnowill affects his dreams. Leetah comes and seduces him. She makes him more elf-like.
She becomes Winnowill. He wakes up and drains the water from her well. She says she
granted his wish. The power was always in him. He makes his decision and frees her. A
troll named Two-Edge hides from the world.
- Hidden Years # 15, Shards # 6 (flashback)
After staying with Picknose's trolls for a while, Two-Edge settles under the future
Citadel Mound.
# 1 - 6
- Wavedancers Part 2 (EQ2 # 1 flashback)
Coral, chief of the Sea elves, is killed by humans. Her son Surge becomes chief. He trains
them in fighting and the reefs are shaped to protect them. Some elves led by Zephyr sail
to another land, Cavernsong. Humans attack, killing all but Wavecatcher.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 8 - 9
The Palace reappears some 10,000 years after it left, in what would be the cultural
equivalent of the 1300s A.D. on Earth. No calendar system of dates has yet been devised
for Abode, however. The Wolfriders are awakened, as are Scouter, Dewshine, Newstar, Mender
and Dart in the Sun Village. Rayek does not go through with his plan, since those he cares
about would be wiped out. The Original Palace is briefly seen in the sky, before falling
backwards in time to the beginning of the timeline.
- New Blood # 13 (p 15 - 18) "Forevergreen" Part 1
The Sun Villagers kept time for Mender's family in the end. Mender wakes Dart. They go
outside. Windkin is there, an adult now. Dart notices the huts are different and the
mountains larger. Ahdri did it since the humans are getting closer. The village is in
their way. Newstar tells him the Palace has reappeared in the new land. The Wolfriders are
awake.
- Jethel is born in the Sun Village
Parts 1 - 12
The Wolfriders relate the dreams they had while in wrapstuff, looking for clues of the
future.
'93 Summer Special "The Passage"
Cutter discovers Skywise still fears small spaces and helps him overcome it.

Suntop befriends a human servant, who takes him to his prince's castle. There they defeat
a wizard under Winnowill's influence.

Rayek attempts to "fit in" to Wolfrider life.

Rayek is able to raise the Palace and Leetah, Suntop, Ember, and Shen-Shen go to the Sun
Village, where the wounded are healed. Shen-Shen stays. Scouter, Dewshine, and Mender
return with them.
- New Blood # 13 (p 18 - 24) "Forevergreen" Part 1
After Leetah and the others leave with the Palace, life goes on in Sorrow's End. Dart says
sooner or later the humans will find them. Chot has some fun at Suntop's expense. Shenshen
takes him away to practice with Savah. She says everyone has something to teach. High
above is Windkin's aerie. He flies above, happy the village is the way it was.
# 14 - 26
Suntop recieves a sending from far south. Windkin leaves Sorrow's End. Dart, Suntop, Yun,
Chot, Shenshen, Dodia, Kimo and Jethel follow, to the "Forevergreen" rainforest.
# 9.5 - 15
Cutter and Rayek fight to clear the air between them and finally make up. Winnowill flies
off with the Palace and it ends up shattered. Humans begin collecting the shards. Cutter
splits the tribe. Cutter leads his tribe to war against the Djun. Ember's tribe continues
to follow 'the way.'
# 1 - 15
Cutter leads a band of elves consisting of Treestump, Clearbrook, Strongbow, Mender,
Zhantee, Skot, Krim, Aroree, Venka, Rayek and Ekuar. Also, they have two of Picknose's
trolls in their team: Drub and Flam, sister and brother. The Wolfriders meet the human
girl Shuna and Winnowill creates the peace hounds. Skot is killed. Zhantee dies and Krim
announces she is pregnant again by either Pike or Skot. Skywise arrives with Timmain.
Djunn kill Winnowill, setting her spirit free. Rayek absorbs her into himself. The
Wolfriders get the palace back.
# 16 - 29
Ember leads the Wolfriders, who now consists of Skywise, Leetah, Moonshade, Scouter,
Dewshine, Tyleet, Nightfall, Redlance and Pike. Also with them are Timmain, and Tyleet's
unborn child. They find a new Holt at Howling Rock. It's discovered that Skot and Zhantee
are dead. Skywise gets Aroree's sending and leaves with Timmain to meet Cutter's group.
# 27 - 35
The Doorwar begins. The elves form a Holt in the Forevergreen jungle. Later, the
Forevergreen burns. Dodia and Door recognize. Windkin goes to Sorrow's End searching for
the Sun Villagers. Back in the Forevergreen, Dodia discovers she is pregnant. Door is
badly wounded and Chot goes looking for Jethel. Ahn-lai goes to the port town of Passage
and imprisons Jethel, who later escapes.
# 16
The Palace picks up the scattered elf tribes. Aroree, Venka, and Two-Edge go with the
Go-Backs in search of Kahvi, Tyldak, and Door. Ember decides to remain at Howling Rock
with Mender, Scouter, Dewshine, Tyleet, Pike, Krim and Yun, along with two trolls Drub and
Flam. Ekuar and Rayek leave together. Those remaining include Cutter, Treestump,
Clearbrook, Strongbow, Moonshade, Dart, Redlance, Nightfall, Newstar, Leetah, Shenshen,
Dodia, Newstar's son Kimo, and Shuna.
- Leetah's Song (EQ2 # 32)
Before Ember is dropped off at Howling Rock, Leetah reminisces about her family and her
two cubs.
- Wild Hunt "A Betwixt Tale" (EQ2 # 14)
Since the Palace left, two weeks have passed. Krim convinces Yun to go on a Go-Back
Chief's Walk, a rite of passage. Ember's wolf-friend Choplicker is getting old and weak.
Yun's objective is to get Ember's claw necklace from her. She does it. Later she discovers
it was a gift from Teir and returns it. She makes a replica to fool Krim.
- Pool is born to Tyleet and Scouter. About a year later Sust is born to Krim and
Pike/Skot.
"A Betwixt Tale" (EQ2 # 11)
Sust tries making his tuft-cat Stubtail into his wolf-friend. He realizes it won't work
and accepts that some just don't get a wolf-friend at first.
- Wild Hunt Part 7(EQ2 # 6 flashback)
Pool starts having 'magic feelings.' He senses Winnowill's creatures and the tribe starts
hunting them. Ember's wolf-friend Choplicker dies as he brings her a new one, Patch.
Parts 1 - 23
The Wolfriders led by Ember battle Winnowills creations and then battle for their lives
against the new Djun.
Parts 24 - 25
The story of Ember's Wolfriders continues.

Jethel and Chot lead a group of human children against humans meaning harm to the forest.

Rayek fights the curse of containing Winnowill in his mind, while traveling with Ekuar.

Rayek's story continues.
- The Neverending (popularly and insultingly called Wigglers) crash-land on
planet Outerreach.
- Rebels # 1 (flashback)
An experimental robot sent as an ambassador to the Neverending is dismantled, and then
reassembled. As a result, it becomes sentient, and is now called Shimmer.
- Jink # 4 (flashback)
The God/Emperor secretly instigates the Newbreed -- Neverending offspring raised to
communicate directly with humans.
- Jink and Torlon Graaf have a romantic affair. It does not end happily.
- Dissatisfaction with Abode intervention in local affairs, as well as lack of military
support against the Neverending, incites several of the colonies to take steps towards
self-rule.
- Rebels # 4 (flashback)
True Holder, of the Neverending, discovers the Newbreed. Disgusted, he founds the True
Sons, and attacks Abodes colonies again. Extremists in the Skyward push for a
surprise attack on the Neverending. Some colonies (including parts of Harveston, a moon of
the gas giant Threshold) declare themselves independent, but none have yet been recognized
by Abode.
