Jink # 1
The Cultural Exchange Center on the planet Homestead is destroyed in a Neverending attack,
killing several humans. Jerrod Anaken and a group of jack-ups search for Jink on
Greenstation Four above Abode. Jack-ups are powerful human telepaths. Jink finds this
intrusive and forces them out. In Wayfair, capital city of Abode and center of government,
Tarik of Homestead demands the Doma's retaliation against the Neverending. Doma later
discusses with Bellambara the existence of a faction among the Neverending. The Doma wants
Jink to find out what's going on, so she's been sending jack-ups to seek her out.
Bellambara asks Kullyn Kenn, Jerrod's cousin, to go after Jink, since he's a tweak (a
lower level telepath).
Jink # 2
Kullyn discovers that Commander Bellambara had a run-in with Jink several years ago. She
was "stealing" elven artifacts. Kullyn believes that with an elven artifact he
can attract Jink's attention. He tells his girlfriend Tamia goodbye (which doesn't go
well). In the Forbidden Zone, in a mysteriously restored Blue Mountain, Jerrod
investigates a strange dark power. Kullyn goes to Two Moon Station where he meets Torlon
Graaf. Graaf tells him about his affair with Jink and where to find her. Kullyn goes to
Greenstation Four and meets Jink, in more ways than one. He asks about her involvement
with the Neverending 40 years ago, but she doesn't remember. For some reason she mindwiped
the event.
Jink # 3
Kullyn is sent to the Neverending instead of Jink. On Outerreach, on the Neverending base,
a group of wigglers called the True Sons, led by Firstborn Trueholder, invade a weapons
cache, killing two guards. They say they want to return their race to the old ways, no
matter the cost. Kullyn takes a prototype stealth ship and discovers Jink is aboard.
Grondans, a crewmember, placed a bomb onboard. Jink teleports it outside the ship where it
explodes. The ship is still damaged. Kullyn and Jink are dropped off on Outerreach, where
they run into a Neverending Hunter/Killer.
Jink # 4
Jink destroys the hunter/killer but three more overtake them. They awake in the
Neverending God-Emperor's sanctum. He wants them to convey information to Abode and the
Skyward who are preparing for war. He reveals the Neverendings' history: They move from
planet to planet, conquering each of them. Each time they sent word to the previous
colony. The God-Emperor discusses an experiment. A subspecies was created to more easily
deal with humans. The True Sons are revolting against this. He tells Jink a secret so
terrible that she once knew it, but wiped it from her mind. Jink and Kullyn leave, not
knowing the God-Emperor betrayed them.
Jink # 5
Kullyn returns from the mission and is thrown into prison. In the restored Blue Mountain
Jerrod Anaken senses deep power and will have it for his own. A messenger from the
God-Emperor tells the Doma of the True Sons, and that the Neverending want peace. Jink
needs the use Torlon Graaf's ship, and in return she'll wipe his mind of her. She breaks
Kullyn out and they head toward the asteroid belt to the True Sons' base. The Doma
discovers that the God-Emperor's envoy is intimately linked to him. He wants the humans to
wipe out the True Sons.
Jink # 6
Jink tells Trueholder, the True Sons' leader, the secret of the Neverending. Their mission
of conquest was doomed from the beginning. Each Neverending colony died out in one way or
another. They are the last of their kind. If they provoke war now, the humans could wipe
them out. Jink tries to mediate a truce between the two races. The True Sons are
slaughtered by the Skyward. To survive, she wipes her memory and Kullyn's, including their
love for each other.
Jink # 7
(This takes place 6 months after Jink # 6.) Jink and the Father of Memory discuss the
battle that destroyed Blue Mountain. He was a player in those events, while Jink is the
daughter of one. He wants her to get rid of Jerrod and the other Jack-ups. She chases
Jerrod and Belroyd out of the mountain and believes they won't return. But Jerrod won't
leave the dark magic behind. Commander Bellambara tells the Doma that Jerrod may have
mentally influenced her to give the command to kill the True Sons. Kullyn Kenn serves as
an attache to the Neverending envoy Firstborn Newbreed. The Darkward, the three most
powerful Black Snakes, (Kalik, Taon, and Thilar) hear Doma's thoughts. They worry that
Jerrod Anaken might unintentionally reveal their presence. Jerrod tells the Black Snakes
of his generation that if they form a union they can take the power in Blue Mountain.
Jink # 8
Thilar, one of the Darkward, tries to get Belroyd to tell her what Jerrod is planning, but
fails. The three of them induce Kullyn to go after Jerrod. He and Firstborn take a skimmer
to Blue Mountain. The Darkward believe they can figure out what's going on through
Kullyn's mind. Kullyn discovers Jerrod and four other Jack-ups in the mountain. He sends
Firstborn off to find Jink. Jerrod and the others form a union. They focus their union
through Kullyn.
Jink # 9
Kullyn sends to Jink that he's in trouble. The other Jack-ups begin rebelling against
Jerrod, but he takes control of their minds. Firstborn finds the Father of Memory. Jink
and Tamia hijack a skimmer and head for Blue Mountain. Jerrod finally taps into the dark
power. Father of Memory says the energy is the residue of evil acts done here and that
they must break with it. But it's too late. The dark power comes to life.
Jink # 10
The dark power in Blue Mountain comes alive and becomes the Mindcoil. It lets loose a
mindburst that goes out in all directions. It arouses peoples' worst fears as it passes
through them, while the Mindcoil feeds on this fear. Jink and Tamia crash their skimmer
and are overwhelmed with their own fears. It reaches Wayfair and overcomes even the
Darkward. The Doma dies as a result of her fears. After moving through most of the
continent, the mindburst subsides.
Jink # 11
Believing the mindburst to be a Neverending attack, Skyward ships move to defensive
positions. The Mindcoil forces Skyward soldiers to attack Jink and Tamia, but Firstborn
stops them. Father of Memory reveals himself as the glider, Egg. Captain Rikkar on Two
Moon Station decides that Blue Mountain must be destroyed.
Jink # 12
Egg says the group mind of humans must be mindwiped to destroy the Mindcoil. Above, in
orbit, the Mindcoil tricks the Skyward into attacking their own ships. Jink pulls Kullyn
out of the group mind. Jink wipes Jerrod's mind and the Mindcoil disperses. She also wipes
the minds of the other jack-ups, but not Belroyd. He doesn't want to forget what Jerrod
did. Egg says all humans who were affected will forget most of what happened. Egg remains
to stand guard at Blue Mountain.
