Kings of the Broken Wheel # 1
During a hunt, Strongbow has trouble aiming his bow. His guilt from killing Kureel,
killing another elf, (Siege at Blue Mnt. # 8) has overwhelmed him. A ceremony is arranged
to heal his pain, but he can't let it go. Ember suggests he should ask Kureel to forgive
him (meaning go to the Palace where Rayek will set loose Kureel's and the Gliders'
spirits). In the Frozen Mountains Rayek, Treestump, and Clearbrook find the Go-Backs and
trolls at war. Kahvi tells Rayek that Ekuar was taken by trolls. He's enraged and attacks
the Go-Backs. He wrecks the lodge where Kahvi's child is. Kahvi runs in but the ceiling
collapses.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 2
Petalwing enters the Palace and discovers Timmain awake, in the form of a white wolf.
Rayek drives the Go-Backs from the Palace and their lodge. He creates a giant chasm that
they can't cross. He's able to do all this with the power of the Gliders. He then flies
over the Palace and restores it. Rayek sends to Ekuar. He's with Picknose, Oddbit, Maggoty
and Trinket, locked in Two-Edge's treasure room. The rest of the trolls are against them
and they want Ekuar. At the Holt Cutter tells Suntop he can go to the Sun Village and
learn from Savah. But Suntop wants to go to the Palace. He's been hearing a call for help
from far off. This started when Rayek restored the Palace. Starjumper is killed in a fight
with one of the jackwolfs. Suntop sends to Timmain.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 3
Ekuar forms a hole in the ceiling of the chamber. He, Picknose, and the others climb up
and meet Rayek, Clearbrook, and Treestump. Rayek gets a sending from Suntop about Timmain,
that something happened to her. They all go to the Palace but Timmain is gone. Suntop
sends to Rayek again about the screaming, the call for help. After finding Timmain, Rayek
makes the Palace fly to the Wolfriders' Holt. Kahvi and her baby, having survived, watches
as it flies off. Strongbow enters the Palace and is forgiven by Kureel's spirit. Rayek
says Suntop must lead him to the origin point of the call for help. Clearbrook gets
One-Eye to let his body rest as it was meant to.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 4
The Palace lands in the Sun Village with the Wolfriders and trolls inside. Rayek and
Cutter make a pact: Only Cutter can say when the Palace will fly. Savah uses her magic to
allow Suntop to rest. Leetah helps Redlance and Nightfall in conceiving a cub. Cutter says
that the two of them had Recognition for the soul but not for having cubs. The next day
they all meet at the Palace. Suntop sends out the call for help so all can hear it.
Timmain chooses those who will go to investigate this call. She chooses Cutter, Leetah,
Ember, and Suntop; Rayek and Ekuar; Nightfall and Strongbow; Treestump and Clearbrook;
Redlance and Moonshade; Skot, Pike, and Krim; Shenshen, Zhantee and the trolls as well.
Dewshine, Scouter, and Windkin stay behind. Wolfriders Woodlock, Rainsong, Newstar, Wing,
and Mender also remain in the village. Ekuar gives Savah a piece of the Palace, a small
replica of itself. The Palace then flies across the ocean to a new land.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 5
All the combined elves in the Palace send to those calling for help, but the screaming
continues. Suntop allows Rayek to hear it and try to figure it out. The Wolfriders go
hunting. They discover that here they all posess great abilities. Strongbow
"sees" his target in his mind before his eyes. Zhantee can create a shield.
Cutter is faster than ever. This is all because of their nearness to the Palace. The
trolls leave the Palace. Timmain sends to Skywise, telling him to "seek one voice
among the many." Rayek makes the cry come out so anyone can hear it, even Winnowill,
stranded on her island.
Kings of the Broken Wheel # 6
Skywise tells Rayek what Timmain told him. Back in the old Holt in the Forbidden Grove,
Aroree searches for Skywise but no one is there. She runs into Kahvi. Kahvi says they
probably took the Palace to the Sun Village. Rayek discovers that the "one voice
among the many" is actually Timmain. The screaming is the High Ones when they first
arrived. The trolls inside attacked and the Palace was sent back, 20,000 years into the
past. Rayek says that their part in time is like a wheel. "When the High Ones first
appeared, they were exiled into the 'long ago.' But we, their undying children, are slowly
catching up to that 'far ahead' time... to the moment of the High Ones' arrival." The
Palace has the power to go to the 'far ahead' time in the blink of an eye. He plans to go
to the future and stop the mistake the High Ones made and rescue them. Cutter says no
because all those left behind will cease to exist. Cutter tells Rayek that if he will not
see reason, he may have to kill him. Aroree and Kahvi get to the Sun Village and find out
where the Wolfriders went. Winnowill sends to Rayek and convinces him to go through with
his plan. The Palace vanishes with Rayek, Leetah, Ember, Suntop, Skywise, Ekuar, and
Trinket inside, leaving the rest behind, seperating Cutter from his family.
