The Palace reappears some 10,000 years after it left, in what would be the cultural
equivalent of the 1300s A.D. on Earth. No calendar system of dates has yet been devised
for Abode, however. Those inside the Palace (Rayek, Skywise, Leetah, Ember, Suntop, Ekuar,
Trinket) haven't aged a day. They believe that the Wolfriders are long dead. Rayek takes
Leetah to Winnowill so her mind can be healed. Leetah attacks Rayek for taking away her
family. He drops her and she falls into a human house. Inside, a woman begs Leetah to heal
her sick and dying daughter. With Skywise's help, she gets out. Skywise has Leetah take
away his wolf blood. Rayek plans to merge their Palace with the Palace of the High Ones
when it appears. He finds Winnowill in the ocean. She has adapted to her aquatic
environment. Picknose (now much older) sees the Palace and says "It's time." In
the Sun Village, Savah's miniature palace tells her the larger Palace is has returned. The
Wolfriders, kept safe in wrapstuff by the trolls, are awakened, as are Scouter, Dewshine,
Newstar, Mender and Dart in the Sun Village. However, those who were put in wrapstuff
because of injuries during the Sun Village battle (Yun, Chot, Kimo) stay in wrapstuff.

Skywise and Leetah are pulled inside the Palace which settles into the ocean. Rayek
entrances Winnowill so Leetah can finish healing her. Winnowill awakes and won't allow it.
She knocks them against the Palace and they lose consciousness. They are rescued by Venka,
Aroree, and Zhantee. Rayek and his daughter Venka go below to Winnowill. With her powerful
sending, Venka forces her into unconsciousness. Rayek sees that the Wolfriders survived
for all these years. He offers to take any of them into the Palace during the merging. Any
left behind will cease to exist. He sees that no one will come, not even Ekuar. Since
those he cares about would be wiped out, he can't go through with it. His chance comes and
goes. The Original Palace is briefly seen in the sky, before falling backwards 20,000
years to the beginning of the timeline.
