Rebels # 1
The story opens with the Skyward, under the command of Captain Junnard, chasing five
rebels in a stolen experimental spacecraft. The rebels include Cosmo Luricahn, former
Skyward cadet, Chandra Davenkee, Scorch Chirell, the android Shimmer, and Rosie (who bears
a remarkable resemblance to a preserver). The rest is in flashback. Cosmo and Scorch meet
Chandra on Abode. Chandra and Cosmo are both going to the Wayfair Academy. Chandra
discovers she'll have to attend for 16 years. She and Cosmo go to visit his Aunt
Gestrelle. She gives Chandra a lodestone necklace as a gift. Watchwarden Steele tells
Gestrelle if she doesn't stop her revolutionary activities on the Net, her nephew will
lose his cadet's commission.
Rebels # 2
The Rebels pick up speed and Chandra has a heart attack. Rosie covers her in wrapstuff
(?!) for protection. Junnard prepares to accelerate but Watchwarden Steele reminds him of
a civilian passenger onboard. Junnard can still track them with the transponder.
(Flashback begins: Cosmo loses his commission as blackmail against his aunt's activities.
His aunt wants them all to save the life of a being created in the Skyward Research
Station. They obtained genetic material from the body of a preserver and combined it with
that of a human. They plan to dissect her for study. While searching the Net for
information, Cosmo discovers data on a new stealth spaceship. The Rebels break into the
mountains south of Wayfair. Flashback ends) Scorch discovers the hidden transponder and
they deactivate it. Junnard commands they follow, with no regard for their passenger (who
happens to be Aunt Gestrelle).
Rebels # 3
(Flashback: The three rebels rescue Rosie with the help of Shimmer, who is shot by Dr.
Beneir. They take the Skyward's stealth ship as they escape. Watchwarden Steele is
informed. They go towards Rosie's destination, Sarazen.) Scorch christens the ship the Cam
Triompe. They repair the engines and escape Junnard, heading toward Quaino's Station.
There they meet Captain L'Cota, a rebel pirate.
Rebels # 4
Chandra and Cosmo come into Quaino's station with the help of L'Cota. L'Cota recognizes
their ship and wouldn't mind getting his hands on it. (Flashback: They land in Sarazen
(Sorrow's End). Rosie climbs to the Bridge of Destiny and takes the small palace out of
the cave beyond (see New Blood # 26). Rosie believes she can show the way to the elves.
She points up to the sky and says, "Highthings went there!") In the bar on
Quaino's Station, a brawl breaks out. L'Cota aids them yet again. He wants them to join
his cause for justice. He wants them to meet him on Harveston. Cosmo still does not trust
him. After they leave the station, Junnard arrives. They arrive on Harveston, a moon of
the gas giant Threshold, which is now independant of Abode. Cosmo discovers that Abode
witholds medical care from Harveston.
Rebels # 5
Junnard questions Gestrelle but she won't talk. They find no sign of L'Cota or the rebels.
A boy on Harveston is in need of medical treatment. Cosmo plans to help out. While
preparing, a prospector gives Cosmo a data chip, a message for L'Cota, a matter of life
and death. They are successful in getting the boy inside the main hospital. Chandra
discovers that the miniature palace has the power to transport them anywhere in seconds.
Rebels # 6
Cosmo discovers important information on the data chip. A comet is headed on a collision
course toward the Neverending mothership on Outerreach. Within the comet/ship there's a
crew planning on destroying the Neverending ship, starting up the war again. They believe
there must be a final decision on the system's ownership. The five rebels board the comet
and stop the mission. Junnard discovers where the Cam Triompe is. The rebels escape him
using the miniature palace. They go to Two Moon Station, looking for L'Cota.
Rebels # 7
Cosmo meets Torlon Graaf at the station. He gives Cosmo a chip that will allow him to get
in contact with L'Cota. Back on board the Cam Triompe Shimmer goes wild. His circuitry was
damaged by Dr. Beneir (Rebels # 3). They use the palace to get to Outerreach to help
Shimmer. Somewhere far away, the use of the palace is sensed by an elf. Cosmo, Shimmer,
and Rosie enter the Neverending ship. Shimmer is repaired and improved, but left blind.
They then go to a derelict Skyward gun platform to salvage weapons, but they walk into a
warzone.
Rebels # 8
Cosmo and Scorch enter the gun platform in the middle of a battle. It's not deserted like
they thought. They discover a group of humans that have been surviving there for years.
They are made up of Deserters (former Skyward who want the war with the Neverending to
continue) and Squatters. They are at war. The rebels and Squatters trade information. The
Deserters attempt to take the Cam Triompe by blowing a hole in the hull.
Rebels # 9
Captain Junnard decides to take some time off visiting family. The Deserters invade the
Cam Triompe. Cosmo and the Squatters try to make a truce with the Deserters. Shimmer ends
the conflict by coming up with a truce. They then go to Abode. They leave the ship at
Sarazen and travel to Wayfair with the scout vehicle. Scorch visits his father. He decides
to race in the Wayfair Invitational since no Chirell is racing. Cosmo and Chandra discover
they have feelings for each other. Scorch meets Elan Junnard, one of the racers. He also
meets Elan's uncle, who just happens to be Captain Halm Junnard.
Rebels # 10
Scorch poses as his almost identical cousin Frix. Junnard believes him. Shimmer and Rosie
visit Cosmo's Aunt Gestrelle. Elan eavesdrops on Cosmo, Chandra, and Scorch. He discovers
Scorch's real name. Far far away two elves M'Ren and Anahvi are preparing to head towards
Abode in the High Ones' Palace. Captain Junnard discovers Frix Chirell is at the Fishery
Institute in Coldhaven. The race begins. Cosmo discovers Junnard is looking for Scorch.
They get back to the Cam Triompe. Cosmo gets a message from L'Cota. Scorch crashes his
car.
Rebels # 11
While repairing their cars, Elan Junnard tells Scorch he knows who he is, but didn't
report him. He just wants a good race. The race resumes, but Skyward ships try to stop
Scorch. The Cam Triompe appears and stops the Skyward. They save Scorch and disappear into
space. They go to Cauldron City at L'Cota's request. The planet Cauldron is very close to
the sun. The city is set on tracks and moves to stay out of the sun's reach. L'Cota sets
up a plan with G'Kahrii S'ha, a known terrorist and mass murdurer. She says she'll set the
people of Cauldron free from misery by destroying the city. L'Cota is working with her but
plans for the rebels to stop her. Chandra begins to grow fond of Scorch.
Rebels # 12
Junnard and Steele are back aboard the Dauntless heading toward Cauldron. L'Cota asks the
rebels to stop G'Kahrii S'ha. Chandra discovers she's a tweak with limited telepathic
ability. S'ha destroys the rail fabrication shops. Without rails the city can't move. It
will be destroyed by the heat of the sun. Evacuation begins. Scorch comes up with the idea
to make the wheels stronger so the city can move without tracks. He and the others are
finally caught by the Skyward. Watchwarden Steele stops S'ha. Junnard finally has the
rebels but they won't reveal the location of their ship.
