Winter: Game is scarce. Timmorn Yellow-Eyes, their chief, went off again. Three-Toe leads the hunt. Timmorn shows up saying he and his wolves must go. He dreams he's a full wolf and a song calls him. Seasons pass. Zarhan, Fastfire, is searching for his mate Rahnee, Timmorn's daughter. Timmorn finds him. Something is pushing him to be more wolf-like. As Zarhan sleeps he hears Timmorn in his mind saying to find Rahnee. Time passes. It's spring. There's an ancient glen with an odd rock structure. A wolfpack hunts here. Zarhan and Threetoe watch. Zarhan says the structure is where they come from. Much time has passed and he believes they've lost what they had. Threetoe disagrees. Rahnee arrives. Zarhan and Threetoe battle as elf and wolf. Rahnee says the two songs are in harmony. A white wolf sees Timmorn howling in pain and madness. She's his mother. He has her magic and becomes wolf-like when he dreams about it. He can decide who he is now. He does, and everything becomes clear.
