# 19 # 19Blood of Ten Chiefs # 19 "Scavengers"
Cutter and Skywise ride away from a bear with a sack. They climb a tree and Starjumper
runs. The bear starts climbing. Skywise jumps to another tree. Cutter is scared, but jumps
just as the bear reaches him. They climb down and ride back to the holt. They tell the
others about it. Bearclaw enjoys it. Cutter pulls out a beehive full of honey, making him
even happier. Joyleaf isn't. Cutter should be more careful. Treestump remembers the digger
hunts he and his sister had. They'll make a list of things Cutter and Skywise will find.
Cutter and Skywise wait by the stream the next day. Joyleaf comes. They must find a green
dreamberry, a sliver of moonlight, and a four-fingered pawflower. They search the meadow
for the pawflower and don't find a single one. Maybe they should think of their own list.
Pike dives into the meadow drunk. He hands them a green dreamberry. He has an idea. They
should hunt for the carved head of Gotara that humans carry. They go spy on the humans
having a feast. The head is on a stick. Treestump and Joyleaf find Pike. He blurts out
where Cutter and Skywise went. The two cubs head to the pond at Goodtree's Glen. They find
they can see moonlight in a handfull of water. They return to the meadow. Treestump and
Joyleaf see they're ok. No elf has ever found all five. Cutter gets an idea the next
night. He pulls a leaf off one, giving it four fingers.
