Here's our Motley Crew. We all reside in the Cleveland/Akron/Canton
area of Ohio. On any given game night at least four of us will be
present. We each have our own style of play, which makes game night that much
more fun. Everyone gets along very well and quite a few "game grudges" have
developed. But, they are always lighthearted and are really more of an excuse
to justify the good-natured verbal jabs that continue through the night. Check
here often, because certain aspects of these bios are subject to change.

| Preferred beverage while playing: Beer, but since I'm trying to be
a responsible parent, I will settle for root beer. |
| Favorite type of game: Economic Games |
| Current favorite game: Acquire |
| Least favorite type of game: Games where players roll dice and whoever
rolls the higher number wins. |
| Least favorite game: Detroit/Cleveland Grand Prix |

same." |

Craig
|
| AKA "Craig" |
| DOB 5/30/59 |
| Preferred food while playing: Pretzels
(they don't leave greasy fingerprints on the game components.) |
| Preferred beverage while playing: Diet Coke until it gets late,
then coffee. |
| Favorite type of game: Games with a lot of bidding and/or trading among players. |
| Current favorite game: Modern Art |
| Least favorite type of game: Anything that goes on and on and on and on... |
| Least favorite game: Risk, Monopoly, etc. |
| Favorite Quote: "If you choose not to decide, you still have made a choice." - Neil Peart |
| Most memorable gaming experience: While playing "Modern Art"
with Mike, Chris and Dave, Mike offered a painting at a fixed price to Dave. Dave was
hemming and hawing over the price when Chris said to Mike "That seems like a great price!",
to which Mike replied, "I don't know...I thought it was kind of high." This made Dave's
dilemma even greater. After several minutes he finally threw his hands up in the air
and refused the painting. I immediately bought it without hesitation. I thought Dave's
jaw was going to hit the floor. He kept saying, "Am I not getting this game?" To tell
you the truth, I think I lost money on the painting, but it was worth buying just to see
Dave's reaction. |
| Comments: I enjoy almost any type of game. I cut my teeth on
wargames (played my first game of PanzerBlitz when I was 10 years old), but lately I
find that I prefer games with a "lighter" feel. What I really enjoy about game
playing is the social interaction. I think that's why I enjoy lighter games; you can
socialize more when your not taxing your brain too much. That's also one of the things
I like about our gaming group. Everybody plays to win, nobody plays for blood. If you
looked at our group on a game night, you wouldn't be able to tell who was winning and
who was losing. Everyone sitting at the table is having a good time. Well, OK, you may
be able to tell when Chris is in the lead (which is usually) because he is trying to
convince everyone that he isn't in the lead and that we should stop ganging up on him. |

| AKA "Snake Eyes" |
| DOB 8/11/65 |
| Preferred food while playing: Tostitos and Salsa. |
| Preferred beverage while playing: That Green stuff(pop)
that Craig has at his house. I think its called Burst or Jolted
(or something like that.) |
| Favorite type of game: One where Strategy is least
important and Lady Luck Rules. I like games that Chris doesn't win. Just kidding. I like
games where I feel like I'm Donald Trump, you know, buying hotel chains. In fact, I will
even lose a game, and continue to buy the same hotel just because I can. |
| Current favorite game: Hundred Yard Dash...No, really it's Acquire. |
| Least favorite type of game: Games where there are complete
destruction cards that were never mentioned. You know, I'm flying my Spitfire and the
next thing that happens is my wings are blown off. |
| Least favorite game: Contrary to what Chris thinks, Grand Prix is
my least favorite game. |
| Favorite Quote: "I'm smoked now!" |
| Most memorable gaming experience: When Chris used a "Leader"
card in History of the World that said he would have the advantage in combat until he
rolled triples, then, on his first roll, he rolled three ones. |
| Comments: Games, Games, and More Games. Bring them on.... |

especially if covered with salt or cheese |
| Preferred beverage while playing: Mountain Dew |

moving strategy games with lots of player interaction. |
| Current favorite game: Settlers of Catan |
| Least favorite type of game: Games where the strategy is
either obvious or trivial. |
| Least favorite game: Fluxx |
| Favorite Quote: "Years to build and moments to ruin." -
Uther Pendragon in the movie Excaliber. |

|
| AKA "The Waffle King" |
| DOB 7/21/72 |
| Preferred food while playing: Spaghetti (It leaves blood-like
stains on all the game components, but nobody ever brings a bowl.) |
| Preferred beverage while playing: Dr. Pepper (or a crisp yet
robust chardonnay--see pasta above.) |
| Favorite type of game: Strategic/economic games that involve
very little luck and a large amount of forethought. |
| Current favorite game: Who knows, lets play... |
| Least favorite type of game: Games that have no real strategy. |
| Least favorite game: War (the card game), Battleship. |
| Favorite Quote: "If you choose not to decide, you are the
Waffle King." - Me...or, in all seriousness, my favorite quote: "Logical consequences
are the scarecrows of fools and the beacons of wise men." - Thomas Henry Huxley |
| Most memorable gaming experience: I was about twelve years old.
I had been waiting for nearly two hours for a deer to appear in the back woods
that I used to live on. It was cold and the ten gauge shotgun that my
father had given me for Christmas was getting very heavy and cold in my
hands. The tree that my father had hoisted me up into was only about...
wait, that's not what you mean is it? |
| Comments: I enjoy learning new games, which is good because as
the newest member I have not even had a chance to play them all yet. I think finding
the principal factors that drive the game, recognizing the patterns that
these factors present and concocting a strategy to use those patterns to
your advantage is the most thrilling part of gaming. |

|
| AKA "Rainman" |
| DOB 6/6/72 |
| Preferred food while playing: Whatever happens to be
sitting in front of me. |
| Preferred beverage while playing: Pepsi or Rolling Rock, depending on the
intensity of the game. |
| Favorite type of game: Anything involving straight-up head-to-head killing
between players. |
| Current favorite game: Roborally or Lunch Money: The Drinking Game |
| Least favorite type of game: Games with a lot of bidding and/or trading among players. |
| Least favorite game: Family Business. I only like games that
actually let me take a turn. |
| Favorite Quote: "Take the blue pill. You're not the one." |
| Most memorable gaming experience: Chris putting the cap on my
10-inch black tower. (Ummm...We were playing Manhattan. - Craig) |
| Comments: I guess I'm more of an involved player. When I'm in
the mood for a light, social game, I go for games like "3-Man", and "Diablo".
I have the most fun when I can sit and try to figure out how to make my army beat players B and C,
without getting killed by player D. But I have to agree with Craig on liking the "everyone
plays to win, nobody plays for blood." I hate playing with people who have a bad winning or
losing attitude. |

| AKA "Mike" |
| DOB 7/26/59 |
| Preferred food while playing: Tostito chips and Craig's wife's homemade salsa. |
| Preferred beverage while playing: Pepsi early on and then coffee later in the night. |
| Favorite type of game: Games that are simple to learn and play and yet have a lot of
in-depth strategy. |
| Current favorite game: Formula Dé |
| Least favorite type of game: Games that have instructions that take longer to read than
it does to actually play the game. |
| Least favorite game: Talisman |
| Favorite Quote: "Now, ain't this somethin'..." |
| Most memorable gaming experience: ??? |
| Comments: Why do I always have to sit next to Chris? |

| Favorite type of game: Games with bidding & trading & especially negotiating. |

Kohle, Keis & Knete, Modern Art, Elfenlands, El Grande, Chinatown, Europa 1945-2030, & Samurai. |
| Least favorite type of game: Games where you spend hours strategically positioning yourself, only to end up determining the outcome by the roll of the dice! YUCK! |
