Perform exploratory data analysis

• Develop a basic knowledge of your data.
  • Means, standard deviations, ranges, etc.

• Watch for outlying values; are results consistant with reality?

• Check for Gaussian distribution of variables.

• Look for strong linear relationships.

Gather information which might prove pertinent.

Familiarity with the data is valuable later in the analysis.
