Chemometrics - Illustrative example
Forensic analysis of whiskey
- Problem:
- Substitution of low priced whiskeys for premium.
- Must prove that brand vended is not brand requested.
- Typical that when a premium brand is chosen, a less expensive brand
is used as a counterfeit.
- Additional goals:
- A single whiskey sample must be used for the determination.
- A simple, unmodified gas chromatograph, common in crime labs, must be used.
- The analysis should be fast, simple and accurate.
