Klaatu Sirius (aka Bub, aka Tubb, when his weight is up) is our most recently acquired Mau. He's a smoke. A nice cat, but he's become rather aloof since reaching adulthood. He's also a bit deficient in controlling his claws, especially when he's excited. He seems to like Oingo Boingo. He's a Premier; he did figure out how to avoid cat shows by turning into Mr. Hyde's nasty cat whenever he gets to a show hall. Bub's in print! About a month ago, I was browsing in Kent State University's campus bookstore and picked up The Complete Cat Owner's Manual by Susie Page. Of course, I checked out the Mau section. On page 153, Klaatu shows up as the example of a smoke Egyptian Mau. I knew for sure (almost) when I looked at the picture that it was him. I looked in the photographer credits and Chanan took the picture. The photo above is from the same photo session and is very similar to the one in the book. But when we looked through our proofs, although it was clear that it was him, we didn't have the exact proof. I guess we didn't get them all. No big deal; we have the photo now. Since we don't have the proof, we don't have the right to put the picture here. I may write to the publisher to ask for permission, but the book seems to be quite common on the bookshelves. Once we confirmed that it was Klaatu, we bought it at the local Borders. By the way, if you're curious about the book, it's pretty good. It looks like they were especially careful to get good cat photos of the various breeds. A lot of cat books haven't been; it's very pretty. Check it out!

On the Starship Enterprise, Klaatu would be the Security Officer, because he's the most physical of the three.
