NO Astronomical Observing at Fishcreek - Friday 6/06/2008
Regardless of weather, we will NOT be meeting behind Fishcreek Elementary School
tonight due to prior commitments by all the telescope
owner/operators you've come to know. Most of us are heavily involved with the
ACA (Astronomy Club of
Akron, Inc) and are committed to setting up telescopes tonight for Camp CHOPS
(Children's Hospital Oncology Patients & Staff). This event at
Camp
Christopher is scheduled months ahead and we look forward to showing the
campers the wonders of the universe. However, if you're looking forward to
doing some astronomical observing this weekend, let me heartily encourage you to
come to the observatory owned and operated by the
ACA. The
observatory is
located in the Portage Lakes State Park at 5031 Manchester Rd, Akron, OH 44319.
Our program this Saturday 6/7/08 is our famous "Solar & Lunar Event / Hotdog
Roast" and is always well attended. Come and see the Sun through specially
filtered telescopes while you're dining on a delicious charcoal-grilled hotdog.
What could be better than that!?
We will be restarting the Stow observing sessions on Friday 6/20/08, weather
permitting, of course.
