Hello and welcome to the The Home of the Live-action
Role-playing Association or simply known as the L.R.A. The L.R.A.
was founded under the premise of creating an NPO that involves itself in
both charity work and helping build a close network of like minded
individuals to help improve their community. The organization also
supports the creation of bonds with its members by encouraging both game
related activities and other non-game related activities to bring various
members of several communities across the many Nations together. We
are an organization that encourages fun, community values and getting to
know your fellow charity oriented gamers across the globe.
L.R.A
Membership Standards of Behavior
Purpose: The standards of member behavior present us with the guidelines
in which the members of the organization are to conduct themselves during
LRA Sponsored events, LRA Meetings, Internet Interaction, mIRC and most
importantly when dealing with the public at large
The L.R.A is a group designed around common goals and no one will reach
those goals through negativity and drama, therefore these policies are an
attempt to reduce those types of behaviors. You will notice that some of
these ideals are used from other Groups Role playing documentations, that
is intentional and in preparation for things to come.
BE REAL FIRST
At all times, keep in mind that the game is only a form of entertainment;
things. That exist or happen within the game are not real and should not
be portrayed as such. The L.R.A.
does not claim that vampires,
werewolves and the like are
real. The
Organization discourages members
from playing their characters at out-of-character
Events. Similarly, it is
essential that members do not
make the mistake of confusing
a member's actual personality or attitudes with those of her character.
MAINTAIN OUR REPUTATION
Members should represent the Live Action Role-players Association in an
accurate and respectful manner at all times to individuals and
organizations outside the LRA.
EXERCISE HONESTY
Members shall be honest in their dealings with the organization. Members
shall not knowingly submit false information to the organization or to any
officer acting in an official capacity. Likewise, officers shall be honest
in the information they present to the membership. Please note that this
does not mean that a Storyteller is obliged to relay all in-game
information to members regarding plot-lines. A certain amount of
confidentiality is necessary to protect story-lines for the enjoyment of
the players.
AVOID ABUSE
Members shall not engage in behavior (in person, via e-mail or otherwise)
that reasonably causes another member to fear the offender may actually
cause physical harm, significant mental distress, or property damage to
another member, nor shall they actually cause such harm.
RESPECT THE FUN OF OTHERS
The First and foremost thing any Role Playing group or organization wants
is to have fun, We are all charged with the responsibility of helping
perpetuate fun not only for ourselves, but also for those around us. No
one in this organization has the right to impose on someone's right to
have fun. This is not to say you can't take IC action against characters
and such it is to say that if your negativity is drastically decreasing
from another ability to have fun, it is not cool.
TREAT OTHERS WITH THE RESPECT YOU WISH TO BE TREATED
Excellent behavior provides excellent results. If you treat people the way
you want to be treated the end result is the same in reciprocation. Human
nature is to give back the attitude and type of behavior you get. That's
just basic principles.
Be
Constructive
Saying you hate an idea concept or thought is one thing, and freedom of
speech allows you to say that. It
is unproductive to complain for the sake of complaining while this does
point out the existence of an issue it in no way points out any kind of
solution to the issue. By adding a thought or comment about how you would
deal with the issue, you find that issues can be resolved or dealt with a
lot quicker.
Be Understanding
Understand that larpers are still people and as such need to be treated as
such, just because someone is an officer or member doesn't make them any
different than you. All L.R.A members are created equal and therefore are
treated as such. Uniformity in treatment by all members will lead to
productive, fun, and enjoyable times.
A New Member is a New Member no matter who they are
While the L.R.A recognizes the existence of other organization and even
encourages its members to participate within them, we also recognize that
the LRA is its own entity and as such the reputations and actions taken in
other organizations should not be used for LRA rules calls and such. The L.R.A
is something that is its own entity and as such people have the
opportunity to have a fresh start within it.
Obey the rules
The rules of the game are there for a reason and as such need to be
obeyed. Not following the rules, rules addenda, spirit of the rules and
basic ethics of a player, you detract from the enjoy ability of the game.
Therefore you detract from others fun, see above for the problems there.
Freedom of Speech
The constitution of
America
allows for freedom of speech and we at the L.R.A are not ones to question
the founding fathers of the country. However there are limits to free
speech, your right to speak freely ends when it becomes exceedingly
disruptive, vulgar, or otherwise
offensive and upsetting to
the standards above. Should you be
requested to stop a topic it is not censorship it is the questioning of
the topic at hand and the results and ripples it has caused. (See Internet
policy for more details.)
