The following table is from "Effect of Temperature On Germination of Seeds of Four Species of Rosa" by Peter Semeniuk and Robert N. Stewart, published in the 1960 issue of the American Rose Annual page 107. They did not state what they meant by "prolonged cold"; but since the research was carried out in Beltsville, Maryland, there probably were not sub zero temperatures.
