I cannot remember why I ordered Amelia Fleming: but since I did, I might as well see what it can offer.

OP means open pollinated (i.e. the pollen could of been its own or brought by bees)

Calocarpa X R. Nutkana

1

Calocarpa X R. Nutkana is expected to be tetraploid.  It is expected that this pollen parent will add disease resistance and winter hardiness to whatever it is crossed to.  The question is whether the cross will have recurrent flowering and, if not, whether that trait can be restored in the next generation.

Folksinger

Carefree Beauty X Heritage

2

As can be seen from the link, Carefree Beauty X Heritage has a beautiful flower.  This can be considered a conservative cross as neither parent is expected to add much that is different to the offspring.

I keep trying crosses of this type to "improve" shrub type flowers.  So far no success.

Folksinger X Dortmund

1

As can be seen from the picture of Folksinger X Dortmund, Dortmund often dominates whatever it is crossed with. It does give strong, healthy plants.  I am hoping that by taking it one more generation, I will get some of Dortmund's positives in a plant with a better flower.

Folksinger and Illusion come from very different disease resistant and winter hardy breeding programs.  The crosses described here are efforts to keep the disease resistance and winter hardiness and yet produce new variations of interest to northern no-spray gardeners.

Obviously, Rugelda X R15 is a major "building block" in my breeding program.

Rugelda X R15

self + Illusion

1

Rugelda X R15 has not been a very good mother with foreign pollen.  This is an attempt to sneak some Illusion pollen in.

Prairie Harvest

self + mixed

1

No rocket science involved here.  When I got to the flower, it appeared that some of its own pollen had ripened so I added some of my mixed pollen.
