The Huns

Before Lucky Toys released their Huns, indeed before Zvedza & Italieri released their Mongols, I wanted to field armies of Steppe nomads, from Attila to Timur the Lame.  The only option was to use some Italieri Saracens and convert the rest.

First, here is an Italieri Saracen and a Revell Napoleonic converted to a Hun ready to light up the town:

The Italieri figures is painted a bit drab but unmodified.  The Napoleonic (I can't recall what he was supposed to be) had his hat carved into a pointed, fur-lined cap, some details cut off, and his carbin trimmed and a glob of glue added as a flame.

This next element is an Italieri Saracen and a HaT Cossack dragging a HaT/Airfix Briton.

The Cossack's hat was trimmed to a point and his spear replaced with a bit of string which is tied to the neck of an Airfix casualty.  The Huns did use lassos, as did most Steppe nomads, so I thought this would be a nice addition to the army.  I Probably should have cut off the horns on the the Briton's helmet so he would look more generic.  You can also see how I label my elements -- a hole punch chad glued ot the base.

Next, a whole base of Napoleanic conversions -- these represent cavalry as opposed to the Light Horse above:

Again the hat were carved, knuckle guards cut from the sabres, guns removed, etc. and nice Fu Manchu mustache added to each with paint.

This last element is more HaT Cossacks with hats trimmed.
