Aztecs
The Revell Aztecs set contains figures suitable for an Aztec army and "close
enough" for Mixtecs or Zapotecs (IV/48), Chichimecs, Toltecs (III/58), or
Triple Alliance (early IV/63) armies.
In doing some research on the army, I noticed an unusual uniform in the Codex
Mendoza, which was adopted from the Huaxtec. It was worn by veterans
who had captured two prisoners -- a Cuextecatl.
The conical caps were made of Epoxy putty and secured to their heads by a
"pin" of wire. There is a similar uniform in the Osprey book on Aztec
armies which is depicted as black with white polkadots and identified as
a "Mixtec warrior-priest."
