"In The Beginning ..."

Three simple words, yet they convey a powerful meaning: they allow us to

know all the answers to the questions of life. All was answered, "In the

Beginning...".

WHEN did all things come to life? In the beginning, when they were

created. HOW did all things come to life? In the beginning, when GOD

created them. Not by an accidental explosion, but by His very word and

design. WHAT was created? All the universe, including this planet and all

living things on it, in the beginning.

Even the New Testament scriptures help us to understand that "In the

beginning" is important to our understanding of the problems that are

presented in our modern day.

Jesus said that marriage was something special that was designed by God,

"Have ye not read, that he which made at the beginning made them male and

female, And said, For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and

shall cleave to his wife: and the twain shall be one flesh?" (Matthew

19:4) God designed this special relationship back at the beginning.

Jesus also said that Divorce was not something that God provided for,

"Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away

your wives: but from the beginning it was not so." (Matthew 19:8) Man

created the idea of divorce, not God. God suffers it to happen.

Jesus also mentions that the Devil has always been against God as a

destroyer of man, "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your

father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in

truth ..." (John 8:44)

Lest there be any question about the sovereignty of Jesus, the scriptures

also tell of His divine Nature, "In the Beginning", "In the beginning was

the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." (John 1:1)

When God, in the Beginning, said "Let us make man ..." (Genesis 1:26), He

was speaking to Jesus and the Holy Spirit.

God provides the answers, "In the beginning" before man was even around to

ask the questions! [JW]
