The Most Important Person In The World
The story is told of a young man in a village. He desired to know who was the most important person in the world. He felt that if he could know who this person was, he could learn great things from him. He asked his parents, and they suggested that he speak to the oldest and wisest of the villagers.
The young man presented his question: "Who is the most important man that lives?" "I will answer your question", said the old man, "If you will answer one for me." As he held up his hand, he said, "Which is the Most POWERFUL finger?" The young man stared for a long time and then timidly said, "I do not know." "Well", said the old man, "When you know, then will I answer your question. Until then, you must go on a journey to seek your answer." Though frustrated, the young man did as the older man suggested. Each step of the way he would meet different people, he would talk with them and help them as best he could. He came in contact with many people and had an affect on many lives. One day, he returned to his village. He again approached the aging man and asked the same question, "Who is the most important man that lives?" The old man again held up his hand and asked, "Which is the most powerful finger?" This time, the younger man knew the answer, and holding up one of his own fingers he said, "This is the most powerful." The older man then said, "That finger belongs to the most important man that lives!"
The young man had learned a very valuable lesson: Being important means living a life that affects others.
Our importance is not seen in our material blessings, but in what we do with what God has given us. How do we affect those about us, for good or for evil? God uses us to spread His word. If we teach one lost soul to be saved, we will have done more good than all the money ever given away by every rich person who has ever lived: for their money can save no one, but obeying the Gospel can.
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away ... Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin." (James 4:14,17)
Are you the most important person in the world?
If you live a Godly life, you
are!
