Gaining The Victory

There are many contests in life. Some are of the sporting variety, as with
two teams who go against each other. Some are of the academic variety, as
with students who are vying for the top honor or grade. Some are between
businesses, as in seeing who can sell the most items or be seen by the
general public as having the best service.

However, the most important contest we are engaged in, is the one for our
souls. God is on the one side and Satan is on the other. God cannot lose, but
Satan has deceived man into thinking that somehow he has as much power as
God. But he does not. God made the world and all that exists. Satan exists
because God allows it.

The victory for our souls has already been won by Christ. He died and was
resurrected, thereby defeating the only stronghold Satan had upon men: death.
When one becomes a child of God and lives faithfully by obeying the Gospel, he
is guaranteed that victory by God: "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the
victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye
stedfast, unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as
ye know that your labor is not in vain in the Lord."
(1 Corinthians 15:57,58)

All we have to do is live that faithful life and the Victory is ours. It's
already there waiting for us. Do we believe that we have the Victory? Do you
