Something Old and Something New
I have been trying to think of some new way to help people to
learn, and to
make the bulletin a little more "fresh".
I know that not everyone learns the same way. Some learn by
doing, some by
the example of others and some by just reading about it.
It is my intention then to try and add a "Questions"
page.
You can give me or write me a question about a Bible
subject and I will write it out here on this page and provide an
answer. Many
brethren have done this in different
publications over the years, and it has often been met with
favorable results. So, in that respect, it is something Old,
but for our use it will be something new.
Here are some examples of questions that were provided in
newspaper articles written by Gene Frost back in the 1960's.
These are taken from his book "Bible Answers, Volume
I".
QUESTION: "After you've died, can someone pray for you and
get your sins
forgiven?"
ANSWER: "The answer is, no. AN affirmative answer would
suggest that after
death one's condition can be changed. And this is untrue. It is
"appointed
unto men once to die, but after this the judgement" (Heb.
9:27) ... An
affirmative answer also suggests that one's sins can be forgiven
by the
expressed will of another's prayer. Neither is this so... If one
can be saved
by another's prayer, he can be saved without faith in Christ.
(John 8:24) He
can be saved without obeying Christ. (Hebrews 5:9) He can be
saved without
obeying the gospel of Christ. (2 Thess. 1:7-9) ... The answer NO
is of
necessity." (pages 125-128)
QUESTION: "Can an illegitimate child find salvation for his
soul?"
ANSWER: "Salvation is available to all who will receive it.
God is "not
willing that any should perish, but that all should come to
repentance." (2
Peter 3:9) He "will have all men to be saved, and to come
unto the knowledge
of the truth." (1 Tim. 2:4) "For the grace of God that
bringeth salvation
hath appeared unto all men." (Titus 2:11) To deny that a
child born out of
wedlock has the right to salvation is to assume that he inherits
the sin of
his progenitors (and that such inherited sin is unforgivable).
This premise
is false." (pages 84,85)
I will be happy to take any questions and to provide the answers
(to the best
of my ability) here. [JW]
