The Ten Commandments and the New Testament.

Often times someone can be heard to say that God provided the Ten
Commandments as law for all ages. They then use that as a starting point for
an argument to suggest that the Old Law has never been done away, and that we
are still bound to it. Whereas there are several passages we could use to
discuss God's removal of the Old Law, in one way or another those "Ten
Commandments" of God are re-stated in the New Testament. Below is an example
of God has re-stated them in the New Testament. On the left will be the way
it was stated in Exodus 20, on the right will be how it is re-stated in the
New Testament.

1.  No Other Gods Before Him.      One God ...      (Eph. 4:6)
2.  No Graven Images.                  No .. Idolater.. (Eph. 5:5)
3.  Not Take His Name in Vain.     No Corrupt Communication. (Eph. 4:29)
4.  Remember Sabbath.               First Day of Week (Acts 20:7)
5.  Honor Father and Mother.        Obey Parents.    (Eph. 6:1,2)
6.  Shalt Not Kill.                         No Murderers.    (Gal. 5:21)
7.  Shalt Not Commit Adultery.     No Adultery.     (Gal. 5:19)
8.  Shalt Not Steal.                      Steal No More.   (Eph. 4:28)
9.  Not Bear False Witness.         Speak Truth.     (Eph. 4:25)
10. Not Covet Neighbors House.   Not Covetous.    (Eph. 5:5)

Although God has removed the Old Law, He has not changed the way He expects
man to reverence Him and His creation. We are to still honor God, keep His
word and learn to treat others with respect. [JW]
