Much Better Than They

A recent event caused sadness to visit our home, as our little pet rabbit
died. When discussing these events
with our children, I was reminded of the fact that God
is even concerned about animals. Consider Matthew 6:26

"Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither
do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly
Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?"

This is a far cry from calling God an "Animal rights
activist"! However, it does tell us about the Love of
God and concern He has for His creation: He provides
for them all the time. God never leaves anything undone,
and even with respect unto the animals that He created,
He continues to ever provide for them.

However, the best part of Matthew 6:26, is the last part.
Jesus reminds us, "... Are ye not much better than they?"
As much as God is concerned with animals, He is far more
concerned with man.

When God created man, He "... created man in his own image ..." (Genesis
1:27)  God then "... breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man
became a living soul." (Genesis 2:7) This is not said of the animals, for
they are neither made in God's image, nor are they "living souls".

When Jesus died on the cross. He did so to redeem man. God's
greatest care and concern for Man is that we be saved. He
created Earth for our abode and Heaven as our Eternal place of Rest. All of
this because "... Are ye not much better
than they?" in God's eyes!    [JW]
