On The First Day Of The Week
What was so special that Jesus would select the First day of the
week
as the day upon which disciples would gather together to worship
God?
When one takes a look at some of the events that happened upon
the
first day of the week, then it may be easier to understand.
1. God began creation upon the First day of the
week. [Genesis 1:5]
2. It was the day that Jesus was
Resurrected.
[Mark 16:9]
3. It was the day the disciples first saw Jesus
alive. [Matt. 28:1-9]
4. The day God declared Jesus to be His Son, with
Power. [Romans 1:4]
5. It is the day in which Jesus became Head of the Church.
[Acts 2:30-33]
6. It is the day when Jesus Established His
Church. [Acts 2:47]
7. It is the day when the Holy Spirit came with
Power. [Acts 2:1-4]
8. It is the day when Peter used the Keys of the Kingdom to
open the Kingdom to all
men.
[Matthew 16:18,19; Acts 2:36-41]
9. It is the day when 3,000 souls were
baptized.
[Acts 2:41]
10. It is the day that disciples came together to observe
the Memorial feast Jesus
established.
[Mark 14:25; Acts 20:7]
11. By Revelation, John called it "the Lord's
day". [Revelation 1:10]
12. Pentecost was the First day of the week. When the Gospel was
preached
on Pentecost, it was therefore on the First
Day of The Week
that the Gospel was preached for the first
time. [Acts 2:1, 14-40]
Christians are "new creatures" (2 Corinthians 5:17) in
Jesus Christ. When
we are Baptized, we also are "resurrected" with Christ
(Romans 6:3-6).
Now, what is so important that YOU cannot be with other Saints,
to offer
Worship to the God of Heaven upon the First Day of the Week? [JW]
