Unconditional?

Few, if any thing in life comes without conditions. It is when we
ignore those conditions that we will have problems. You may have
gone through a grueling selection process in order to receive a
mortgage for your home. You are handed the documents and the check
in order to purchase that home. You are happy and feel that it was
all worth it as you step into your new home. However, there are now
conditions which must be met to keep that home, and prime among
them is your obligation to repay that mortgage. Should you neglect
to repay that loan, the bank will take that home away from you.
If the conditions are violated, you will suffer for it.

We understand conditions in all aspects of life. Laws of the road
protect us, but should we violate those laws, then we will suffer
the consequences. We must study in school in order to pass tests
so that we can graduate. Should we fail in doing so, we will not
pass and not graduate. We are paid by our employers for doing our
work. Should we shirk our responsibilities, then we face the
consequences of losing our job and pay.

Why is it then that people in the Religious world fail to see that
God has certain conditions? They think that Forgiveness is without
condition. Salvation is unconditional, as is Heaven. They go about
their lives happy in the (false) knowledge that everything is ok.

But the God of Heaven has placed conditions upon us. These are not
burdensome, but are still there just the same. John, in his first
epistle, notes that for us to know we have fellowship with others,
and to know that we have been cleansed by the blood of Jesus Christ,
then certain conditions must be met. He says we must be those who
"... walk in the light..." (1 John 1:7). A place and an action of
condition is mentioned. The place is the Light and the condition is
that we must be found doing something in it: walking. Not just any
walk, but another condition tells us the type of walk: "... as He
is in the light..."  A walk that imitates our Saviour.

God wants us to be saved and to go to heaven. However, He has
established certain conditions which must be met. We must obey
the Gospel and do it His way. Any other way is a violation of
His will and results in our losing Salvation.  [JW]
