Thoughts On Children

We have experienced a terrible amount of sad news lately, with respect
to young people. News about plans from students to kill other students.
News about young people acting in an immoral and illegal way while away
from home on field trips. Yet, we must still realize that the majority of
young people are still to be trusted. The majority of young people still
are willing to listen to and be guided by adults they respect and trust.
The real question is: are you one of those people? Are you the type of
person who is trying to gain the respect of the young people in your life?
The following brief article provides some things to think about.

While They Are Young.
(Adapted)

Perhaps you have never thought that the first four years of a child's life
are the most important as far as future character traits are concerned, but
they are. Basic character, which is the foundation for all future life, is
built the first few years of a child's life. Fathers and mothers must use
the utmost care in these first few years if the child is going to have a
happy and productive future. His early training will determine to a great
degree if he will do well in school, if he will be a good citizen, and
if he will be a faithful child of God. Parents, do not neglect these years!

There is much truth in what the above writer had to say. Of course, God
knew this long before we ever "discovered" it. He has been trying to tell
us this, from His word, since He provided that word. We are responsible for
our children, especially for what and how we train them. Do we train them
in love? Do we train them to show respect for others, including their elders?
Do we train them in proper grammar? Do we train them in manners?
Do we train them in the "Golden Rule"? Or, do we just assume that they will
learn these things?

"Remember now thy Creator in the days of they youth, while the evil days
come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure
in them;"  (Ecclesiastes 12:1)
