"... More Than Can Be
Numbered..." (Psalm 40:5)
We sing a song in our songbooks called "Count Your
Blessings". The idea for
the song comes from the thought expressed in Psalm 40:5,
"Many, O Lord my God, are thy wonderful works which thou
hast done, and thy
thoughts which are to usward: they cannot be reckoned up in order
unto
thee: If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than
can be
numbered."
The Psalmist felt that even if one could sit down and think about
all the
wonderful works that God has done, they are so numerous that he
could not
declare them all.
Do You Feel That Same Way About God's Works? Do you fell that He
is so
wonderful and His works to us so great, that it causes you to
lose count?
Satan desires that we focus on that which is negative, such as
asking why
God has not done this or that thing for us. But we can think of
the many
wonderful works of God and we can praise Him for His greatness.
What Are But A Few Of The Wonderful Works Of God That Are Given
To Usward?
1. Salvation Through Jesus Christ. The Faithful Are Free From
Sin.
2. God Did Not Require WE PAY the Price. Could Anyone Come Up
With It?
3. Heaven As Our Eternal Home. All That Earth Lacks, Heaven
Surpasses.
4. Faithful Brethren. Those We Can Depend Upon to Act In A
Christlike Way.
5. Faithful Spouses. In A World Full Of Hurt, We Have Companions
Of Heart.
6. Faithful Families. Home Is A Haven From A World Of Hate.
7. The Bible. Everything We Need To Get From Earth To Heaven.
8. Worship. The Right And Privilege To Approach God's Very
Throne.
9. The Resurrection. Christ's Resurrection Means We Need Never
Fear Death.
10. The Earth. God Provided A Temporary Home To Prepare Us For
The Eternal.
Maybe you can come up with your own list. I know if you think
long and hard
you will. And maybe, just maybe, that's exactly what we need to
do in order
to keep Satan from tempting us: Think Long And Hard About God's
Blessings!
