No Condemnation In Christ
The American Heritage Dictionary defines CONDEMN as "1. To
express
disapproval of; censure; criticize. 2. To pronounce judgement
against;
sentence." By these words we understand that something that
has been
condemned, is something that has been determined to no longer be
of use.
When speaking of a building, we understand that it no longer
holds up to
a certain standard with respect to building codes. It is
"judged" to have
failed to maintain those codes, either because of neglect or
possibly
because of some other fault (earthquake, fire, etc.) Whatever the
reason,
the building no longer is suitable for use. It is
"disapproved" with
respect to functioning for it's original purpose.
When speaking of humans, we recognize that to be condemned means
we have
a judgement against us. We too have failed to maintain some
standard of
code or law. We are then "censured" or blamed: found to
be at fault. With
respect to our spiritual relationship, it means we have failed to
honor God
and obey His will. We have sinned, and are at fault for our sins.
When one finds oneself in Jesus Christ, they have no fear of
condemnation.
There is no fear of one day finding oneself judged or criticized
as having
failed to maintain one's status. In Jesus Christ, there is no
"disapproval"
there is only Approval. God approves all who are in Christ, and
no one
need fear ever being rejected, because we walk according to God's
ways,
and not that of the flesh. In so doing, Christ takes away our
sins and
we have no fault or blame laid against
us! [JW]
"There is therefore now no condemnation to them
which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the
flesh, but after the Spirit." (Romans 8:1)
