Pastor's Welcome

Home

Welcome to the web site of the Ontario United Methodist Church. It is our heartfelt desire to ‘connect’ with you and help you find what you are looking for. We hope you find this site inviting, informative and encouraging.

The vision God has given this church is to

                        Care for

                        S            Salvation

                        O            Outreach

                        U            Unity

                        L            Love

                        S            Spiritual Growth

                        In the Spirit of Christ.

The word “soul” has an historic, biblical lineage as well as modern currency, bridging the past, present and future in a dynamic way. The soul can be described as that sacred space within each person where all dimensions of personhood are fully present, including spirit, mind, heart, body and experience.  As we care for the soul, we are caring for the whole person, making real the love and grace of God.

Early Methodists would greet one another with the words, “How is it with your soul?” As the Lord leads us, we want to develop such varied and effective ministries that more and more people would be able to respond, “It is well with my soul!”

We are working, as God leads us and empowers us, to build a vital, life-transforming ministry for all who are led to this church—a spiritually and numerically healthy congregation that can rise to the challenges of this century. We want to help increasing numbers of people become fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who pray together, “Lord, we want to be a part of what you are doing in your world. Help us do the things you are blessing.”

A favorite Scripture passage has guided me in these exciting, challenging days of ministry. In Ephesians 3:20-21, Paul concludes his prayer in this way: “Now to Him who by the power at work within us is able to accomplish abundantly far more than all we can ask or imagine, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Faithfully yours in the strong name of Jesus,

James F. Winkler, Pastor
