Astronomy Notebook Information

Your Astronomy Notebook will be an important learning component. You are creating a study guide and an organizational unit that may occasionally be available to you for test and quizzes. Listed below are the guidelines for the notebook:

Your notebook must be a three-ring binder. The rings should be large enough to add all of assignments throughout the semester.

Your notebook should have the following sections, separated by a cover sheet with labeled tabs and in the correct order.

a) Classroom Notes / Video Handouts

b) Chapter Question

c) Labs / Current Events

d) Planetarium Newsletter / Quizzes

e) Journal Entries

Notebooks will be collected at least once per grading period. Place this sheet along with your syllabus for the first page of your notebook.

Classroom Participation Points

At the start of each nine weeks, you will receive between 200-225 points depending on the number of days in each grading period.

You will accumulate 5-points each day you are present in school, not tardy, not using a hall pass, and actively engaged in the class (taking notes, participating in lab, or answering questions).

For example, if you should miss a day of school (excused/unexcused), you will not receive your five (5) points for the day. If you use a hall pass or disrupt the class, you will lose five points. You should receive all five points as long as you are doing what you should be doing.

The participation points will be calculated at the end of the nine weeks NOT at interim report time.
