Engineering Home Brew Page Links Page Rockets Update Log |
I have created this site to tell you a little bit about myself and my interests. I also hope to be able to provide home brewers and model rocket enthusiasts with information about my experiences as well as advice and guidance to online resources. If you've been here before, thanks for coming back.
If the site looks the same as your last visit, please don't be disappointed. This site
only receives my attention sporatically throughout the |
My name is Mark Recktenwald. I am a Geotechnical (soil) Engineer in private practice. I also do a little computer consulting including hardware upgrades and system setup and configuration.
I have been brewing my own beer since 1995 and am a big fan of micro-brewed beers. My Home Brew Page is stuck in an early development mode (it hasn't seen any major revision since 1997), but it does contain a handful of links to Beer and Home Brew sites on the web.
I like to build and fly model rockets. I started this in grade school, put it aside for 15 years or so, and started flying again in about 1990. It's only been since the summer of 1998 that I have really gone "hog-wild" with it. This area was the latest addition to my web site and has been receiving the majority of my attention of late.
The hyperlinks to my other pages over on the upper left corner are a quick way to bounce back and forth. Use them liberally.
The Links Page contains some basic stuff like search engines (Alta Vista, et.al.), software support (PC Mag, MS, etc.), Maps & Weather, a few beer links, and two game site links. I intended to put other cool stuff in there, but as my site has matured most of the new links found their way to the Home Brew and Rocket Links pages.
This site was originally created with a beta copy of
Microsoft FrontPage 98 for
Windows 95. Work shifted to the Windows 95
Notepad as a raw HTML code editor after the beta expired. Most of the editting in 1998 was
performed on the Composer component of
Netscape Communicator. Not satisfied with some of the
HTML coding that comes out of Composer, I have been doing most of my work in trusty old Notepad
since 1999.
My pages have been tested in Netscape Navigator and
Internet Explorer. During testing, screen
resolution was set to 800x600 and screen color was set to true color (24-bit). A screen
resolution of 640x480 will work OK but horizontal scrolling will be needed to view all portions
of some of the pages. Resolutions larger then 800x600 will work just fine. Screen color settings
from 15-bit on up should look OK, but 8-bit (256 colors) will do a poor job of rendering photos
correctly, particularly reduced-size photos.
