LAUNCH REPORT 1999-005 Date: May 20, 1999 Time: 8:30 pm Place: My backyard, Stow, OH Weather: Sunny (dusk), 75 Degrees F Winds: South calm-5 mph Not yet a week after MTMA No. 1 and I'm itching for more! I took out five rockets and got them all prepped before we launched the first. That way, we could launch one right after the other. We used the standard Estes pad and launch controller. We switched over to the 3/16" rod for the Shadow "5". My boys and several neighborhood kids were present. My wife watched from the deck. Mini Marz Lander A3-4T Arced to W Altitude ~200' AGL Landed ~100' W of the launch pad. Patriot B6-4 Arced slightly to the W Altitude ~300' AGL Landed ~20' NW of the launch pad Star Wars X-Wing RTF C5-3 Arced slightly to the W Altitude ~350' AGL Landed ~100'WSW of the launch pad. The engine hook pushed anout 1/4" up the tube during prep. One of the add-on stabilization fins broke off on landing (broke at plastic cement joint). Sidewinder C6-3 Arced slightly to N (*AWAY* from the wind - that's a first) Altitude ~500' AGL Landed ~500' NNW of the launch pad in a 50' tall maple. Guess who got it out. Shadow "5" D12-3 Arced slightly to E Altitude ~200' AGL Landed ~50' NNE of the launch pad just past youngest son's reach. Shadow "5" D12-3 Arced slightly to NE Altitude ~200' AGL Landed ~50' N of the launch pad, again just past youngest son's reach. The fins on the Shadow "5" took a beating. One of them is loose at the glue joint and will need to be repaired before it flys again. I should probably remove all of them and reglue before any E- or F-equivalent clusters.
