The Navy Pier is located at the foot of Grand Avenue, on the waterfront in downtown Chicago. The historic pier was originally opened in 1916 as both a shipping and recreational facility. It was then transformed into a military training site during both world wars, as well as a college campus from 1946 to 1965. The facilities fell into disrepair during the 1970's-80's, until the funding for it's revitalization was granted.

The pier today is one of the country's most unique recreation and exposition facilities. Visitors can enjoy performances at the 1,500 seat outdoor Skyline Stage, ride the 150 ft. high Ferris wheel or the old-fashioned carousel, dine at the Pier's restaurants or Beer Garden, cruise on tour boats around the harbor, watch a large-screen movie at the 3D Imax Theatre, or experience many other venues at the 50 acre complex.
