The Navy Pier is located at the foot of Grand Avenue, on the waterfront in downtown Chicago. The historic pier was originally opened in 1916 as both a shipping and recreational facility. It was then transformed into a military training site during both world wars, as well as a college campus from 1946 to 1965. The facilities fell into disrepair during the 1970's-80's, until the funding for it's revitalization was granted.

The pier is one of the country's most unique recreation & exposition facilities. Visitors can enjoy performances at the 1,500 seat outdoor Skyline Stage, ride the 150 ft. high Ferris wheel or the old-fashioned carousel, dine at the Pier's restaurants or Beer Garden, cruise on tour boats around the harbor, watch a large-screen movie at the 3D Imax Theatre, or experience other venues at the 50 acre complex.
