Jacob's Field is home to Major League Baseball's Cleveland Indians. Built in 1994 as part of the Gateway Sports Complex in downtown Cleveland, the all-baseball stadium has sold out during more consecutive Major League games than any other stadium in history. Jacob's Field holds 43,368 fans, and in recent years the Indians have averaged over three million home game ticket sales per year.
The exposed steel design mimicks the many historic bridges along the nearby Cuyahoga River, while the vertical light towers are symbolic of the smokestacks at the nearby steel factories. Above the left field bleachers is the largest free-standing scoreboard in the United States, measuring 120 ft. high by 220 ft. wide, and including and a full-color Sony Jumbotron instant replay video board.
