World Trade Center
New York, New York ~ Lower Manhattan ~ April 10, 1985

The twin towers still stand proud and majestic in my memories. I don't know what words to use for re-writing the photo description below after September 11th's evil act. I believe for now I am going to leave it as it was originally written. Someday I'll have the heart to write something different. God be with those who lost their lives so tragically. -Rod

The World Trade Center is located in lower Manhattan. At 110 stories each, they are the tallest buildings in New York City and the 3rd tallest skyscrapers in the world. Both the Gallery on the 107th floor and the Observation Deck on the 110th floor (the world's highest open-air viewing platform) provide breathtaking views of all of New York City. The buildings were designed by Minoru Yamasaki & Associates, and were completed in April 1973.
The buildings were the world's tallest skyscrapers until Chicago's Sears Tower was completed in 1974. There are a total of 95 elevators, 43,600 windows, and 4.5 million square feet of office space. Approx. 50,000 people work in the buildings daily. Walking out on the rooftop observation platform was one of the most exhilerating experiences I have ever had. It's hard to explain the feeling of looking down over all of New York City at such a height.
