As a young Coast Guardsman, I was stationed in Saugerties, NY with the US Coast Guard at their Light Attendant Station in Turkey Point. After the Saugerties, Kingston & Esopus Meadows light houses were closed, it was one of my duties to help maintain them. I loved that job.

I found your site as a link from The Great Lakes Historical Society site. Your photos are great. I have a wonderful winter photo of the South Haven, Michigan lighthouse with typical windblown ice covering it. I hope you can include one like that. I'm from S. Haven and have seen that lighthouse in all kinds of weather. Glad that they haven't torn it down. Good luck!

Great albums. We went to my husband's class reunion in Bradford, PA but got to see 21 lights around Lake Erie. We have pictures of a lot of the ones you are still missing. We were lucky to get into Buffalo light as that was most important to him as he was in the Coast Guard up there and it was open on our anniversary the only day of the year! Keep up the good work!

Great pics of the lighthouses! A friend and I have decided to see most of the lighthouses in Ohio before the summer is over...I never gave them much thought until I was on vacation in the Outer Banks, NC and I saw a lighthouse for the first time. We were just minutes from Cape Hatteras. Ever since then, I decided I wanted to see them all! I'll check back to see which new pics you have and compare to which I have seen!

I was fortunate enough to visit this lighthouse in 1999, and compared to other vacations, such as disney world. This I believe was the best vacation I had been on simply because I have collected lighthouses for years and was as aw struck in person as I am to just glance at the poster size picture that hang in my dining room.

As a resident of Barrington, RI as a kid, I remember being fascinated by the lighthouses in the upper part of the bay. Are there any photographs of the Sabin Point or Bullocks Point lighthouses? As I recall, the Bullocks Point lighthouse was severely damaged during the 1938 hurricane.

I enjoyed your pictures a lot and I just discovered a lighthouse in Muncie that I did not know about until I got on my computer. It is called Cooper lighthouse and is located on Prairie Creek Resovoir and was built in 97, 98, or 99. Thought you would like to know this, I have not seen it yet but I intend to the next chance I get.

A wonderful collection of photos. Many thanks for permission to use the Muskegon Lighthouse on my personal webpage!! :) A beautiful shot that recalls memories of my hometown after a career in the military, and not enough visits back home during those years. My family will be delighted, especially brothers and sisters spread out from California to Texas to the United Kingdom! The proper credit will be given and I'll be back to visit your site. Best wishes in your future travels!
