I look out almost every evening and find comfort in knowing our lighthouse is still there, after all these years, protecting our harbor.

I really like the short descriptions for each photo. Just enough to be interesting and keep your attention, but not too much to be boring. The photographs themselves are excellent. Good job.

Regarding the South Manitou Island Lighthouse, I'm the great-grandaughter of Louis Hutzler. Once the keeper of the lightstation sometime ago. Without going into detail......I was hoping for permission to use your photo of the lighthouse as my desktop for my pc. If you're interested in knowing more about my ancestry and or the history of life on the island according to my families published books, i'd be happy to share it w/ you. Take care

I was in Maine this summer and got some great picture of some of Maine's lighthouses. I've fallen in love with Lighthouses now. My wife and I are decorating our family room in a lighthouse motif and I've been doing a lot of study on the interior of lighthouse quarters. You have a great site and I have it saved.

I am a lighthouse enthusiast and advocate of preserving our lighthouse heritage. My great uncle was a lighthouse keeper on the Manitoulin Island, Lake Huron, Onatario, Canada. My father was assigned to the lights of the Detroit River while in the Coast Guard just before World War II. I am originally from Michigan. This website if just great!!!

As a lighthouse admirer and frequent visitor, I was totally delighted to find your collection of lighthouse photos. It was refreshing to see that you took pains to shoot from views that the average tourist or sightseer would not attempt. I feel very fortunate to live in close proximity to a number of lighthouses and I take frequent day trips to admire and marvel at these great sentries of the coastline. Thank you for sharing your wonderful photos and for not letting the rich histories of the lighthouse dim.

I just found your website and I am very excited to have done so. I am not only a huge fan of lighthouses but Rhode Island is my “home away from home.” I am anxious to learn more about your photographs of the RI lighthouses and to learn if your works are available as computer wallpaper. I am most anxious to obtain a copy of the Hog Island lighthouse as it is directly in front of my family’s property on the bay. I look forward to hearing from you soon and to the opportunity to further appreciate your work!

1970 to 1977 were some of the best years of my government career aboard the the Lightship Chesapeake. I served as the Communications Officer, then the Deck Officer and later in 1976-77, I was the ship's Captain. The ship at that time was under the ownership of the National Park Service. I was part of team that restored her to operational condition and made several trips up and down the Potomac River as part of environmental education program. She is a fine old ship and built to take almost any kind of weather. I feel that it was a great honor to be able to spend 7 years aboard, several of which I lived on board, in the portside aft cabin in the Officers Wardroom.

I am a Warwick resident and have availed myself to the Mayor of Warwick (Scott Avidesian) as a volunteer for maintenance and upkeep of the Conimucut Lighthouse. I found your site from an internet search of RI Lighthouses. I am also aware that the the US Government is preparing to assign the maintenance and upkeep of many lighthouses to their respective state and local governments. I want to let you know that I am interested in volunteering for other lighthouse assignments and if you know of the appropriate contacts to please pass them on to me. Also, can I inquire as to where you got the information regarding the history of the Conimucut Lighthouse? Often my wife (new to RI) go to Conimicut and walk the beach and admire the lighthouse and have shown it in boast to my landlocked relatives. Thank You
