The Stratford Point Lighthouse was built in 1881, and is the 2nd light to be erected on the site. The cast iron plates over brick lining is one of 8 lights built in the area of similar design. The only architectural adornments on the towers are the window details & hooded tops. The keepers quarters was also built in 1881, & the fog signal building in 1911.

The tower is open to the public for climbing, and includes a small 4 car parking lot just inside the station property. It is necessary for guests to check in with the station keeper (A Coast Guard officer who resides inside) before roaming the grounds. The keeper was gracious opening the tower for us to climb, even though we arrived during dinner!
