Goat Island

Cape Elizabeth East Light was built in 1874 (along with it's "sister" west tower) as replacements of the earlier stone towers built in 1828. The light was fitted with a 2nd order Fresnel lens.
The East light is still an active beacon. The original lens was replaced in 1994 with a newer automated lens. The original Fresnel lens is now proudly displayed at the Cape Elizabeth town hall.
