Located on the tip of one of Maine's long mid coast "fingers", Pemaquid Point Lighthouse has one of the most unique and beautiful settings on the entire east coast. The light is perched above a large glacial formed out cropping of rocks, with reflective tide pools stretching down to the water's edge. The rock formations created many unique perspectives of the lighthouse and outbuildings.

The light tower is not open to the public for climbing, but the keeper's quarters houses a maritime museum. Adjacent to the property is a gift shop and snack bar with plenty of lighthouse and nautical related items for sale. We also boarded an excellent tour boat from Boothbay Harbor (south of Pemaquid) which cruised right offshore of the light for an interesting view.
