| The original Point Iroquois Light was built in 1857. With a growth of personnel over the subsequent years, a new larger station had to be built in 1870, and enlarged in the 1900s. |
The lighthouse stood guard over one of the busiest shipping lanes in the world, the Soo Locks and the St. Mary's River. The beacon was extinguished in 1962, and is now a nice museum. |
