Point Betsie Lighthouse was built in 1858. The beacon was not fully automated until 1983, making it the last manned light on Michigan's mainland. An abondoned life saving station is nearby.
The beautiful light is inhabited by a Coast Guard family, so the insides are off limits to visitors. The beacon is an important aid for ships making turns in & out of the Manitou Passage.
