The Presque Isle Harbor Breakwater Light is located at the end of a 2600 foot long breakwater wall on the island sancturay of Presque Isle, in Marquette's upper harbor. The concrete and steel light was built in 1941 to guide iron ore boats in and out of the busy protective harbor.
Presque Isle Park features picnic areas, a children's zoo, a large water park, and wonderful scenic overlooks along it's 100 foot shoreline bluffs. The harbor is also home to the Lake Superior and Ishpeming Railroad Ore Dock, a huge taconite loading dock for the big ore boats.
