Cape Ann Lights

White Island Light is located on the small string of islands called the "Isles of Shoals", 9 miles off the Portsmouth coast. The present light, from 1859, was the 2nd one built.
The original whale oil powered second order Fresnel lens was removed in 1987, and replaced with a solar powered modern plastic lens. Cruises to the Shoals are available.
