Hereford Inlet
The lifesaving station was built in 1849 to serve the maritime traffic through Hereford Inlet, which links the ocean to the intracoastal waterway. The village was known as Angelsea at the time.
The station was moved in 1881 to save it from the eroding shoreline. In 1888, a larger and more desirable site was acquired across the street, next to the beautiful Hereford Inlet Lighthouse.
